    [Albion] The Potter in/out thread

I was always depressed by the ending of 'Brief Encounter' and his return would feel like that.

    [Politics] General Election 2024 - 4th July

I never get how someone who has failed so miserably when people have had the opportunity to vote for him can claim to be the true voice of the people. I can't see why he gets so much airtime.

Thunder Rd, Incident on 57th St, Promised Land.

[Albion] What did you enjoy more, getting to Europe or playing in Europe?

I couldn't travel to any of the away games in Europe and was only able to get to the Marseille home game. However, seeing Albion playing against these European giants and in these amazing arenas on TV was so far from what had been my wildest dreams for most of the 55 years I have been a fan. I...

[Albion] Brighton v Chelsea highlights 1973

Nice to see Spider in a Man City shirt later in the programme.

    [Misc] HR Nightmare

Over the 30+ years I was a manager I saw a big change (deterioration) in the quality of HR managers, with a few exceptions. I have seen a trend in which it is easier for HR to find fault in the behaviour of the manager, particularly junior managers, than the staff member. Where I worked this...

[Albion] Brighton v Chelsea highlights 1973

I was in the South Stand with my dad. No segregation at all but I don't remember any significant trouble. It was a welcome break from the depressing league form and a respectable performance.

[Politics] Tory meltdown finally arrived [was: incoming]...

Her speech had all the hallmarks of someone who had lost contact with reality. She also talked about civil servants being distracted by an obsession with diversity. Having worked in a public service diversity was about ensuring that the workforce reflected the society we served and that as wide...

[Politics] Natalie Elphic defects to labour

As someone of a similar age, I think, this pretty much somes up how I have grown to see things.

The silliest insult someone has given you?

I was called a tosswanker many years ago by someone who I thought was a friend after much drink had been taken. Not a word I had heard before but I may have deserved it.

    [Politics] Are you voting today?

Council and PCC here and I have voted. I always do.

    [Albion] Ian Mellor

We’ve seen some amazing football from the Albion in recent years but I still don’t think any performance compares with the Walsall second half. RIP a legend.

    [NSC] Plans for the summer?

No holidays planned yet but I have some London concerts booked; Kim Gordon, Patti Smith, Black Uhuru, Stevie Nicks, PJ Harvey, Saucerful of Secrets and hopefully some more. Also Sussex at Lords in a few weeks time.

[Misc] Old albums you’d nearly forgotten about

I know the Velvets reformed to tour in the early 90s but I have always thought that this album was the closest we got to a proper reunion of their main creative talents. It's a great record.
