    You do need to treat Merlin with a little caution even though it's a good app. Why not add BirdNET app too? Here you actually record the bird song. Then you send it to the BirdNET servers in Germany who will analyze your recordings. Generally it is more accurate.

    I'm sure a few fellow NSC's partook in Global Birding Day last Saturday. I did as part of the Andaguiri team and produced 8 lists and a total of 97 species. But the highlight for me was finding this Long-eared Owl hiding in a mulberry tree.

    On my local patch yesterday pre-dawn I had 14 Nightingales in full song. Poor old Blackcaps are now being drowned out by them. Had first Common Cuckoo 2 weeks ago. Whinchats & Western Subalpine Warblers, along with all the other warblers back and singing. Sadly though numbers seem to be down...

    Being pedantic - sorry - but the parakeets around in Malaga (and my garden!) are Monk Parakeets. These birds originate from Argentina and are now classed as pests here in the Malaga area. There are a few Rose-ringed around too, but very much in the minority.
