Even better would be 'ooohhhhhhhh, you're shit, aaaaah........'

But you forget that no-one wanted to actually come here before we took back control through Brexit. Now we are in the sunlit uplands everyone is desperate to cross the channel to join us.

@Is it PotG? - why the 'ha-ha' emoji? What's funny about facts and figures from the House of Commons own stats?

OK The annual number of asylum applications to the UK peaked in 2002 at 84,132 - we didn't have much of a backlog because we had a functioning system for processing them. In 2023, 67,337 applications for asylum were made in the UK - we now have a backlog because the system is not functioning...

Ooh, you'll like this from them then: "What have we 'coped' with this before?"

There are currently no safe and legal routes to travel to Britain to claim asylum - Priti Patel closed the last of them down. We only have the increase in boats because we stopped the previously functioning legal asylum processes.

It used to work in 'real life'. Why would it not work again?

Yep. I reckon it will take longer than 10 years to turn around the damage done by this lot over the last 14 years.

It will be Tory party policy by the weekend - and they'll be telling everyone it was their idea.

Well - when you say 'not so long'. Maybe not as long as we have left - but I have been waiting a bloody long time to get rid of these venal cabal of numpties. Since 2016 at least - before that I just tolerated them.

Just goes to show why Labour / Starmer aren't shouting about their own policies too much. Anything remotely popular is stolen by the Tories in a desperate attempt to stay in power - even though it's against everything they espouse.

I agree - but it's hard to get this across to the public in this day of celebs and soundbites isn't it.

Blair II ?? Blair was full of charm and charisma, and swept to power on a flood of ideas, positivity, and hopes for new beginnings. Starmer is hardly that. Indeed, none of that really - the opposite of Blair I would say.

Oh yes, that's right - I'd forgotten that the Labour Party had caused that world recession. Silly me.

Knowing this bunch of shysters, they will have flogged it off on the cheap to their mates - who will then resell it on your suggested sites for three times what they had paid the UK Government for it.

The sooner we get away from individuals and personalities the better. I won't be voting to get 'Starmer In'. I will be voting to ensure that there is a group of level-headed, non venal, relatively honest, competent, non-corrupt people leading our country - instead of the shit-show we have now...

Really it's only one election. 2010 ended in a hung parliament leading to the coalition - so not really 'won' outright by the opposition.

Depends on 'what you want'. I want this bunch out - so will vote however best to achieve that in my area. Might not be my 'first choice' - but the main 'want' now is to change.

Near enough! If 'we' didn't renew the train companies contract, and then didn't renew the train owners' franchises - it would all be 'owned' by us. Then 'we' would simply run the whole lot in an integrated fashion. No more fines for catching the wrong companies' trains. No more arguing...
