Bollocks :( EDIT: Not the statement, the fact he's going (in case you thought I was doubting you).

Didn't know there was doubt about Chubb being ready. I knew about a new deal, (and I think he'll stay), but if there IS a doubt about him being healthy then you can see why Berry and the Browns are prevaricating. And as it's Cleveland you just know they'll get it wrong: if he stays he'll be a...

Oh PLEEEEEEEZE let that happen! As we used to say about crap signings at the Albion moving on: "I'll drive him there myself!"

Me too! But I'd love to see us take a similar hit on Perv Boy. I'd rather start with Flacco again next season.

Feel for you pal :( Were you one of those that helped clear the field?

Blimey, really? Thanks for the update. As you say, not on the face of it a massive upgrade - or even an upgrade at all. Maybe, yes, stuff is happening behind the scenes that we don't know about. Ah well, this is the Browns we're talking about.

Blimey, I hadn't head that. When you consider the season we've had after the injuries to key personnel, and the fact this was only (I think) the fourth time in THIRTY YEARS that we've made the play-offs, by our standards this has been a spectacularly successful season. You'd have thought they'd...

Yup, I'll hold my hands up and say I too wasn't 100% convinced on Merryfield, sorry, Mayfield either. (I said as much, several times, on last year's thread). In my defence I'll say I'm not paid to spot NFL talent - proved by the fact I wanted Sam Darnold instead of him in the Draft anyway! (Now...

Oh dear. Poor old Dave. The Eagles collapse in the second half of the season has been one for the ages, the sort of thing I'd expect from Cleveland. And talking of Cleveland I see the Bucs' QB, the man who stepped into Tom Brady's shoes and led them into the play-offs, threw for 337 yards and...

It is indeed one of the great mysteries of life. When you think how important the position is it's almost unbelievable how bad Cleveland have been over the years, sorry decades, in trying to find a decent one. Eventually we sold our souls to the devil and got in Watson, but even at his best I'd...

Fair play, it wasn't even close. And it least you're not the Ravens, and it goes without saying that all Browns fans wish you the very best if you end up playing them.

I went to bed when we were 14-10 up and have recorded the rest of the match. I'm now going to watch it, and watch as the brilliant Browns march triumphantly onto the divisional round. Edit: Bollocks. To quote Edmund Blackadder: "I think the phrase rhymes with clucking bell"

Agreed. I know he'd like to beat Shula's all-time record, but his Superbowl record alone means his place in history is assured. Don't go anywhere else, Bill, retire now. Also he's what, 72 now? I don't want him inducted into the Hall of Fame posthumously.

Yeah. However (and this might sound a little churlish seeing as we're having, by our standards, an excellent season), the terms 'Cleveland' and 'Good recruitment*' are never words that appear naturally together, regardless of the GM. Something about the air at Berea seems to affect them all...

Yes, happy new year to you too! :) As you say it wouldn't have happened if they were a TE as they're like utility players. Don't know the rules in-depth enough to comment on your edit - but it seems we aren't the only ones!

Ah ok, fair enough, I've never heard of the 'no touching once eligible' rule either. I must admit I haven't seen it yet, only read about it, and the report I read said the refs hadn't acknowledged his eligibility, but on further googling that doesn't seem to have been the issue. Apologies.

[Other Sport] Official NFL Thread 2023/2024

Yes they do. The issue was whether Deker (an offensive lineman) had reported as eligible. That's a pretty standard rule, and I've seen it lots of times. I'm surprised you hadn't heard of it. (They usually announce it to the crowd so there's no confusion).

Thanks, I'll watch it. In the same vein have you seen 'Johnny Football'? (about Johnny Manziel). Also on Netflix. Of special interest to us as Cleveland fans, but other will enjoy it too. And also 'The best that never was' about Marcus Dupree. Both are about how pure talent is never enough to...

We DID try not to win. We tried very very hard, but you simply insisted. Ah well, we're still on for getting beaten in the first round of the play-offs.
