I think you have a good point.
He recently spoke in an interview about his need to learn Dezerbiball. I think he can do it and also believe the double pivot role is the only position he could make his own, this position seems to be the hardest to play under RDZ. It’s going to be a big summer...
In all honesty, I’d like to see enough midfield reinforcements in the summer to be able to play Groß as our first choice CAM/No.10 behind Pedro/Welbeck/Ferguson. I think he is our best attacking playmaker and an absolute assist king.
I agree with this. We got the 3 points after all. He played the role where Buonanotte, Joao Pedro and even Welbeck have played for RDZ in the past. Perhaps the lack of flair/creativity in exchange for power, strength, precision and not giving the ball away is the way forward. I’m not arguing...
He wasn’t (and has never - happy to be correct) played in a midfield pivot alongside top level defensive midfielders or top level deep lying playmakers (Groß, Gilmour or Mac Allister).
I get that. But what position is he meant to be playing? I don’t think he is top level at the advanced midfielder playmaker or good enough for that deep lying role either. But he essentially got us the win today.
He did a lot right today but we only had 10 shots on goal. He didn’t play the sort...
Gilmour is a deep lying playmaker who is not quite as good a Mac Allister. With the World Champion gone, he has taken his opportunity very well.
I’m just not sure where Moder fits in. I wonder where his best position in Dezerbiball is?
I don’t buy that at all.
He needs time to get up to full match fitness and learn De Zerbi ball. He injured his leg not his brain, he does not need to learn to play football again.
And as for 6-12 months, that’s nonsense. You are confusing injury recovery time with getting back to match fitness...
I think Moder has had enough time to get match for now. He is still getting very few minutes and is seemingly nowhere near threatening the starting lineup.
The conclusion must be that he doesn’t have the attributes RDZ requires. These might be pace and dribbling on the flanks or elite level...
I wonder where he’ll start?
A full back? A wing back? A defensive midfielder or maybe an attacking midfielder? I’m sure Potter had him in all those holes.
I think you are spot on in terms of stats. He has also just lost the best part of 2 years of development through injury.
But, the ‘eye test’ reveals a lot more than the numbers on Transfermarkt. He is a unit and has great strength. He is two footed. He can play one touch football to a high...
I think you are right.
There has been a number of times when the likes of Dunk play a very quick ball to our on-rushing central midfielder in order to beat the opposition’s high press. The ball is normally flicked off to the flanks as we quickly progress up the pitch.
However, I have seen this...
I seem to recall that Moder (rightly) aimed for the woodwork a lot. His misses were generally by less than a foot or he’d hit the bar/post. I think RDZ could turn him into a very effective and frequent goal scorer for us.
