We have a pot out the back of the house (pictured) which gets a lot of sun, and one at the front that gets much less, but both look very similar.
The border ones are in sun.
There were three varieties in the pack I bought but it wasn't clear which was which.
Peony update - year three!
Curiously the two in pots are all bushy, and the two in the border have long stems - presumably this is just a coincidence, and down to the variety?
Mine are looking VIGOROUS this year which I assume is a good sign. Any idea where I can get metal frames for holding them up? They seem to be about £30 on Amazon which is ridiculous.
Sorry, slow response! They're all looking good, both the ones in pots and the ones in the border. No sign of any flowers though I gather this is normal in the first year.
Question for Jack Straw and others - a lot of the young leaves on various plants in my garden, including perennials and...
The woody herbs like thyme and rosemary like the dry dusty soil as they come from the med. Mint grows like a weed anywhere in my experience. Parsley, basil, etc need more moisture. All like a lot of sun. Coriander needs putting in the bin
So got my 72 perennial plugs from Thompson and Morgan in over the weekend. Slight problem is my border is only about 1m x 5m and it is already filled with peonies and alliums (which are just about to flower) - so it's going to be a bit congested. I did stick them straight in rather than potting...
Thanks for this! Any tips of position? I have a fairly small garden so not really sure where I'll fit six but they came in a pack of six.
It is pretty sheltered though so will hopefully be ok on that front. I expect my daughter will attack them with a football instead.
My order of peonies is coming in from Thomson and Morgan this week - anyone got any tips? I have ordered six and they look rather large so not sure I actually have space. Will some be ok in pots?
