I'm not convinced I can put slabs down on sand, that sounds well outside of my skillset!

Thanks both. I did wonder about the sweeping / tidying angle. I'll go with slabs.

    [Help] Gardeners Question Time.

Hello - I need to lay a base for a greenhouse. Would these: https://www.diy.com/departments/plastic-interlocking-shed-base-w-49cm-x-l-49cm-pack-of-4/5060192725094_BQ.prd?storeId=1018 filled with shingle do the job, or should I lay slabs? Both will end up costing about £150 I guess, but the...

Great, thank you. What should I do with it?! Pop it in a bigger pot outside when it warms up, or should it go in a border?

    [Help] Gardeners Question Time.

Hello - a relative gave me a cutting about six months ago. I forgot all about it for a few weeks and left it on a shelf, then popped it in a pot just in case, and miraculously it has grown. Does anyone know what it is and what i should do with it? It's very floppy and can't hold its own weight...

I won't say a word if it turns out to be a dandelion or a turnip.

Good find, the leaf looks very similar. If it flowers I'll let you know!

Very true, trouble is this bugger seems to squirrel underground then pop up somewhere else. Don't think I've got a hope of getting rid of it really so I'll just keep hacking back.

Given I planted it that should really ring a bell but doesn't! I'll be sure to send pics as and when it does something fancy.

Good tip, thanks. Reckon I can just dig them out of the pot and plant them? I'd been wondering as well whether that's better to do in the autumn, or now before they get too big / roots get too intertwined/

    [Help] Gardeners Question Time.

Finally I've got a big pot with four or five canna lillies in it (photo won't upload for some reason), the lillies are about 2-3ft tall at the minute, got them from a neighbour. The pot is ugly, can I plant them in the ground, or is it best to leave them in the pot so I can put them in the shed...

What is this, and what is it going to do? I planted it and I've been WiLB and it's doing much better than it did last year.

    Weed or plant?

This little bush (currently about 4ft tall) grows in a border, doesn't really do much but fills a space. It has some black growth on it but otherwise seems healthy, can i just cut it back? (something wrong with the pic of the whole bush and it won't upload so hopefully this is enough)

A few questions for the experts if that's OK. (1) This plan / weed grows through our hedge and into a rush bush, not unattractive but out of control. Worth keeping or should I try and get rid? The 'trunk' looks black and dead, but it clearly isn't!

    [Help] Gardeners Question Time.

Thanks, my bigger issue is that the only spot I had was close to some great big leylandi type trees (and partly under the rain shadow of them - had a tree surgeon ready to come out but a pay cut meant that booking had to go) and between two fruit trees so I'm going to really have to keep on top...

    [Help] Gardeners Question Time.

Is that all essential? I've just dug out a patch of grass, dug it over and raked it a couple of times and was going to plant a few bits of veg in it. Feeling like I may be underprepared! I think I've got some of that fish blood and bone stuff somewhere, worth sprinkling that on to try and...
