Sadly, i'm not sure we can play a midfield that doesn't include one of Fraser and Martot :nono:

100% correct. I thought Martot was very good in the middle against Oldham and I am not quite sure Fraser is ready for the rough and tumble yet. I do not think Thomson had a good game against Orient, but we can't keep chopping and changing. We need some consistency in the team selections.

I am would not normally advocate Robinson starting, but I think Cox could do with a rest and Robinson did appear to be going for it vs Orient and getting stuck in with some tackles. We need to hurt Gillingham early and I think he will run them ragged.

Fraser improved things no end against Cheltenham and started well against Oldham.

Against Orient his work-rate was far more than Thomson and he rarely gave the ball away or was caught in possession.

Fraser above Thomson at the moment for me - if only because his energy and work-rate inspires others to follow suit.

As we all know, Robinson can't keep the pressure up for 90 minutes. I still think that he should be used as an impact sub if needed.

As for Cox, yes he needs to re-charge.

Thomson was poor for one game - you can't drop him for that in my opinion. Fraser, well, he might run around a lot, I'll give you that, but a lot of it is to no effect and I'd say he's putting together a VERY strong challenge to take Revell's "headless chicken" crown. Energy doesn't make up for the fact he is physically weak, positionally dire, and poor with the ball at his feet.

He did not give the ball away ONCE on Saturday.

I can also remember he making more than a few CRUNCHING tackles.

Also, his positional play was not too bad when he tracked a player back all the way to our own penalty area when they broke from a corner and he shepherded the guy away from goal. Compare that with Thomson sitting off Demetriou and letting him get a cross in for their goal...

Thomson, as far as I can see, has not had a GOOD game since he joined. He may not have been terrible but equally he has not ONCE stamped his authority on a game.
