It was always a slim chance, I think, but last night and this weekend’s results ended any chance we have really, not least as we are so infuriatingly inconsistent and can’t seem to find the big results when we need them. Suspect even the Europa League might be in doubt too. Not being Peter Pessimist, just Ronnie Realist.

It was made possible due to the extra place and Man U and Spurs doing so poorly. However, five of the top seven will be in the CL next season. However European football is still very possible.

Winning all seven games would give us 68 points.

Fifth place points totals over the last few years: 66, 67, 69, 66, 59, 70, 70, 75.

We won't win all seven games, and with the shit teams being particularly shit this year meaning more points distributed elsewhere, it does feel as though the Champions League dream is over now.

Other European competitions are available, however.

With seven wins, I would say it's more likely than not

Six wins, possible but unlikely

Anything else no chance.

I don't believe either will happen, I think around 9th or 10th is most likely. That feels about right to me

The way we suffer with injuries id almost dread European football. We’d be watching the walking dead each week in the league.
This is a good point. It would be a minimum of 8 extra games and likely more.

Can you imagine the bare bones we'd be down to. At the rate we lose players, those on here clamouring for 16 year olds to be in the team might get their wish

Imagine winning 7 games on the bounce after some bad results......never happens...

I think it's fair to say that the next seven games could be season-defining.

We have to concentrate on wiping the memory of the past week first. I'd say the gap to the ECL spots is too large. Without looking at the fixture lists of our rivals I'd say finishing seventh would be a pretty impressive achievement right now, even eighth would be a success. EL and Conference league are still possibilities, if we can wrest back control of our own destiny. That has to start with a win against Leicester saturday and that really should be our sole focus right now.
