There is a real lack of quality goalkeepers in the game at the moment. Every top club has struggled to fill the position. Verbruggen is obviously better than Steele and he's also obviously better than Ramsdale (3rd time relegated), Hermansen, Muric/Walton/Palmer, Jose Sa, Vicario, Onana, Areola, Flekken and Pickford. Whether he's better than others is debatable but I'd easily have him above that mob without too much doubt. It's more debatable if he's better than Sels (having the season of his life, but not an amazing keeper), Henderson, Kepa, Leno, Pope, Sanchez/Jorgensen. Only Alisson, Ederson and Raya are undoubtedly better in my opinion.
It does seem to be a bad era of goalkeeping. I wonder if there is too much pressure on keepers to be somewhat a jack of all trades now and be good with their feet.

You are joking, I take it. Obviously better than, inter alia, Pickford, Areola, Flekken? Jesus wept!

Should have saved the first goal, no?
Think so from where I was sat but kept us in the game lots of other times. Lack of quick distribution is annoying but suspect this is pre meditated rather than him not choosing to

Got unlucky.

He was moving towards the middle to cover the ball across when the ball deflected off Dunk then made himself big for the rebound shot.

Unfortunately bounced off his thigh onto his arm and in. Those kind of chances are more about luck at that point rather than goalkeeping ability.
