Whereas now, it's the hope that often leads to disappointment!I do miss us being in the lower divisions sometimes. In some ways it was more fun when you had lower expectations. Every now and then we would have a great season.

I guessed you were being ironic - but the situation was still interesting enough to comment further upon....and a whoosh for you too.
I really am too subtle, it appears.
Also supported by everybody’s favourite referee, Mike Dean. Also delighted for Tranmere because they are supported by Half Man Half Biscuit, who a few NSCers are, like me, fans of.
Looks like probable curtains for Carlisle United - exactly 50 years after they were in the old 1st. division (which they briefly lead after winning the first three games).Likelihood is that they'll both stay up - but the late comeback could mean all the difference come the final day. Carlisle have won their last two - so are suddenly quite a bit closer.
Accrington v Carlisle on Bank Holiday Monday.

Carlisle and Morecambe - two out of three of my local teams likely to drop out of the league. Carlisle did have a year in the conference 2004-5.Looks like probable curtains for Carlisle United - exactly 50 years after they were in the old 1st. division (which they briefly lead after winning the first three games).
Exactly !Accrington Stanley?
Who are they?
Are you saying his son will blow it all up and not care?Stop now.
Stop.
Stop it.
Just stop.
There will be plenty of time to re-engage with those lovely old feelings when Tony Bloom ceases to be Our Leader![]()
No.Are you saying his son will blow it all up and not care?
As long as we don’t need to go in search of another Dick Knight in the future, I will be happy.No.
When I refereed to Tony Bloom I was using this as shorthand for the Bloom family, led at any given time by whoever is Top Boy, and biggest fan, which may well be a son or a nephew, since as we have seen, the nephew can sometimes be the man of the hour.
But that is rather a mouthful so I wrote 'Tony Bloom' as a cypher. Gedditt??![]()

Are you suggesting.....that VAR may have....sucked joy out of matches?Watching that I realise how much joy VAR has sucked from our matches.
Fantastic to watch though, thanks for posting.
2 points dropped!Bit of an overreaction to a draw, TBH.
Are you suggesting.....that VAR may have....sucked joy out of matches?
That's an interesting suggestion.
I will do some research on it and get back later.
(Early data are in: subject HWT reports no missing joy, but a small reduction in anger.
I would have updated later but the first rule of research is when you get the answer you want, stop the study. Fact.)
I accept I may be a bit peculiar over this one.You and I are on different sides on this one I’m afraid. I’m fine with goal line tech and semi-automated offsides, which are quick and enable the ref to make the right calls. An off-field ref with slo-mo and multiple camera angles who can take minutes to come to a conclusion is (to me) antithetical to what football’s about.
If you can’t fully celebrate a goal when it goes in (quick glance at the lino aside) you’ve lost something visceral and real.

Excellent news the only place I’ve been actually worried if im getting out of the place intact. The kind hearted landlord locked Brighton fans in with Carlisles finest .Looks like probable curtains for Carlisle United - exactly 50 years after they were in the old 1st. division (which they briefly lead after winning the first three games).
