[Football] Minteh - This worries me

I read this quote from a Dutch football writer "He is lightning quick and you could see in those pre-season games when he started pressing defenders they were scared of him when he had the ball and looking back at where he was again" He sounds so much like Tariq Lamtey who tore through defenders. My concern is the refs will allow the same thing to happen to him as happened to Lamptey. Time and again we saw Lamptey getting chopped down,I don't know if this caused his injuries but I think it was a major reason he didn't turn into the player we all hoped he would become. These sorts of fouls should bring higher penalties, perhaps this is an argument for "sin binning". All I know is I was disgusted by the cynical nature in which Lamptey was dealt with and hope Minteh does not get the same treatment.

Not an unreasonable fear.

There are some big tackles going into him at the beginning of my compilation, 0:20- 0:45

Like Lamptey was, his astonishing speed and acceleration gets him out of trouble quite a lot but he is going to take some big hits in the EPL. Hopefully, he is not made out of balsa wood and glass.

He a lot bigger and looks a lot stronger than Lampty though. I’m sure he will be fine.

Besides, I thought Lamptey’s issues were his hamstrings and his lightening quick pace and less from tackles.

I checked.

He has 7” on Tariq and the girth on his thighs is very impressive.

Definitely. When you consider all the speed merchants in football whose careers have been hindered by injuries, it's generally from hamstrings that can't cope with their explosive sprinting ability. I think it's quite rare that a player gets a long term injury from a bad tackle; all of the 3+ month injuries I can think of over the last few years have been as a result of innocuous looking incidents.

OP, I think you've nailed it. Wingers in particular are getting no protection whatsoever from refs. And the more cynical managers in the PL, looking at you, Silva, Emery, Dyche, Howe, know it. They know that if you're playing us, you can repeatedly assault young, fast, but not fully developed wingers with alternative full backs on the bench for when they are eventually yellow carded.

I'm convinced this is behind our strategy of loading our squad with wingers. We know we'll have to bring them in and out, both to manage the minutes and as a result of almost certain injury issues in the position

I'm confused, you're concerned because our new signing is too fast?

NSC goes full circle.
