I am hearing from friends and colleagues there are some odd disease symptoms going around. Some have COVID-like symptoms, but are COVID-negative.

Recently (last 2 weeks) me and Mrs T have both experienced similar symptoms, with the nipper having a milder version. Ordinarily I would have passed some of this off as old age-related aches and pains, as the symptoms are so 'specific'. But Mrs T is not old, and you cannot transmit and share innate health problems any more than you can transmit Marmite.

The main symptom is mental lassitude. A sort of mental fatigue. I have dozed off in the afternoon a few times, and find myself staring into the middle distance. This is worst first thing in the morning. It isn't booze related. Mrs T is a very light drinker, and I stopped drinking 11 days ago and there was absolutely no benefit.

The other main symptom is back and neck pain. Mrs T and I both got pain in the lower back and abdomen, in places neither of us have ever had pain before. This looks to me like a sensory ganglion infection. That lasted about 3 days. At one point I could barely stand up. This symptom appeared suddenly during an afternoon.

Both of us had a cough and sore throat but this was mild and lasted only a couple of days. No temperature. Negative Covid test.

We both had a bit of 'tummy trouble' at one point.

The final symptom for me was an inner ear issue. No pain, but a gurgling in the Eustachian tube in one ear, as if liquidy mucous was moving about.. Vanished overnight.

Everything has pretty much passed now.

Two of our neighbours have had similar symptoms but dominated by 'the shits' with one of them losing quite a bit of weight. Lasted around 2 weeks (like our malaise)

So, is this a thing? I suspect there are all sorts of weird viruses about. Successful ones won't kill anyone or greatly debilitate them because viral survival requires the opportunity to spread. And unless people mention the symptoms nobody will know about them.

Interesting.............. I'm struggling a bit with back stiffness/soreness ATM for the first time ever plus some odd chest pains that are very intermittent but no obvious cause or other symptoms.....

Two of my team have COVID. Not surprising after Sunday night. I expect a spike in infections because of it.

Currently suffering from an extremely blocked ear and general malaise. My ears though have been trouble off and on since being very unwell (possibly covid) around the new year.

Covid is rife and causing a lot of fatigue. Vertigo-like symptoms appear to be affecting quite a few people too.
Is it? A regular in the pub came in last night and said his wife has covid (but he tested fine) and that was the first time I've heard anyone having covid for a very long time. The barmaid all chirped in and said there is a lot of it about at the moment.

Do they still publish stats on it?

Oh and get well soon Doc and anyone else struggling at the moment.

My wife came back from Center Parcs last weekend with Covid. She was moderately ill with it, it didn't look pleasant. I think there is quite a lot of it around but people don't really test anymore.

I came back with an ear infection and have been completely deaf in one ear for two weeks. If I was going to design an environment specifically to spread infection between humans, it would be based on the Center Parcs rapids.

Covid is still 'a thing' in that about a fortnight ago, I read there was a small spike in infections. I see that Biden is reported to have interrupted his campaigning due to it. (Yes, I know).

I think all three of us in our household have it. 24 year old went down first with cough, congestion, sore throat, general weakness. Then I got it, not as badly (I had a booster jab in Sept/Oct) and my wife caught it 2/3 days later. We haven't bothered to get it confirmed with a Covid test, as it wouldn't affect our behaviour. We would still avoid vulnerable people anyway.

Edit: on my wife's choir chat, many people are dropping out of choir practice due to Covid.

I came across this link on my work laptop. They are still updating it

But anecdotally I know a fair amount who've had it recently

Yes, my wife and I and one our sons have had some of those symptoms in the last couple of weeks. I know a few people have had COVID at our school and one is in now with it. My wife needed 2 days off work and was completely wiped out for 4 or 5, the worst thing was strong vertigo.

I appreciate my OP post is long and that many people find long posts objectionable (apparently - :lolol: ) but I was specifically referring to weird symptoms that are NOT covid (negative tests). I personally wouldn't even bother with a COVID test these days so @Arthur's comments about data are correct - not even as reliable now as in May 2020. I happen to know our malaise isn't COVID because Mrs T did a test.

Thanks for your good wishes @Arthur. And shared with others suffering presently

Anecdotal. Four of my friends plus me have had covid in the last month. Know three blokes also suffering from vertigo like symptoms.

The length was fine H. It had to be a longish post to camouflage that you really just wanted to tell us how young your missus is. ;)

Missus and I both had 15 days of covid a month ago and went into hibernation. Coughs, aching, general weakness and tiredness. Still have a feeling of general lethargy and tiredness.
I think we know more people at the moment with covid than we did at any one time with the epidemic.
Call it conspiracy theory if you like but there seems to be a general lack of covid awareness at the moment, with little coverage in the news or through NHS publicity. Generally the public have accepted it as business as usual, particularly when the official advice is to buy your own kits (£5.50 for a box of 5) and isolate for five days only. At this rate it will slide under the radar and reach pandemic proportions.

I find this somewhat reassuring.
I was concerned that the additional booze session for the Euro final might have done me some damage as I started feeling most peculiar on Monday afternoon.

Pretty much all the above symptoms.

I was most disturbed by frequent 'senior' moments over the last few days as this was very unusual for me. Bit like being stoned (last time for me was 1992).

Went to prepare a delicious pork larb yesterday and then realised I had cooked it the day before as there was a labelled portion in the fridge.
When I went to take the bin out I was halfway down the stairs when I realised I was wearing odd shoes.
Been lying on the sofa for a few days watching TV. I can remember what I watched but can't recall much detail.

Feeling more astute today and less fatigued. When the cloud clears I shall go for a dip in the sea. That should brighten me up .

... Until I get ill due to Southern Water's greed and incompetence.
