The FA will make a show of trying to get a Guardiola or a Klopp in but ultimately they've already decided on Lee Carsley.

They know he'd be unpopular with the fans so they'll call him temporary and then hope he does well and repeat what they did with Southgate.

I dont think UEFA has decided which seeding critera they will use yet? Or did I miss recent news?

If UEFA go with seeding based on Nations League (as some believe will be the case), England indeed won't be seeded. But if they in the end decide to go the traditional route (and I think they will), it will be based on FIFA World Rankings and then England will be seeded.
How the hell UEFA could possible rank nations based on the Mickey Mouse Nations league over the Euros, let alone world rankings, would be mind blowing !

Sounds like a madcap scheme. If they want Carsley it would be entirely because they back their own succession planning.

They can't pick him like a spotty teenager picking a fat girl to walk home from after a disco, with the admonition "you're not my 'real' girlfriend. Yet",

'Fattest' and 'misogynistic' words from one of our more liberal posters on NSC....He won't reply to me as I'm on 'ignore.'

If you think Southgate has been a success, Carsley makes sense. He is clearly the continuity candidate.
However if you think Southgate was a failure we have to look elsewhere. Frankly the whole thing is a bit meh for me.
I’d go for Potter over Carsley

Hope Carsley does really well and gets the job permanently. Potter will then need a career Plan B.

Very different tactician to Southgate by all accounts. Very attacking coach. Very good record with age groups too. I think they are right to give him a chance. It doesn't need to be a 'name'. Other nations have proved that.

Potter please. Just to pi$$ so many gnarly pundits (Talksport and Sky, I'm looking at you) who can only see multiple ECL winners and Smug Eddie as candidates exalted enough to meet their entitlement.

Interesting that Lee Carsely has only got 3.0% of the vote. Seems like a very likely outcome to me.
Well if you want to play ‘I told you so’, I suggested Carsley as the best option the day before you even posted your suggestion

(I also suggested Potter as his replacement for the U21s)

Potter isn't going to be the U21 manager.

They're not. I don't know why so many posters are making stuff up.

"Draw seeding will be based on the most recent FIFA rankings, which are usually released shortly after each international window has closed."

As England currently sit 4th in the FIFA rankings, they will be seeded.
