Seen a couple of "falling over" comments again and here to say that he was our most fouled player per 90 mins last season and the 9th most fouled per 90 mins across the whole league. Similar players above him include, Ayew, Olise, Kudus and Grealish. Joao Pedro is the 10th most fouled player in the league with a very similar record, and Joel Veltman is up there in third for the Albion.

Buonanotte played a really important role for us last year at a very young age, was brave and developed well playing in 25 of the final 28 games last season.

I'd be disappointed if he left on loan but I'd understand it with our expanded options across the front. If he left permanently, it'd be ludicrous.

"Realistic" buy option? Transfermarkt values Buonanotte at €18m. That's probably one of their usual understimates for a 19 Year old Argentinian International with 40 games at EPL level. It's also more than twice the highest figure that Feyenoord have ever paid for a player.

A loan might be ok if he’s not going to get any playing time here, but not a loan to buy.

Sadly, the majority of professional footballers feign injury from time to time. So is it that these players getting above average foul statistics are getting fouled more frequently or are they just better actors? If the later, should we be adding a thespian coach to the management team?

I’d be disappointed and worried if Facu B was to go, he’s still very young and shown great promise at times. Ideally he would’ve gone out on loan before playing so much in the first team, but we had a lot of injuries last season so it is what it is. He’s not even 20 yet, both sides should have patience.

I'd like to see him loaned but to somewhere where he can toughen up a bit (like the Championship). He's undoubtedly talented but still a bit physically weak, a year of being knocked about in the Championship and getting through that could work wonders for him.

What an obtuse comment. They don't love cheating, they're very good wingers who often use their skills to win free kicks. It's a fundamental part of elite level football and a fundamental part of being a successful team at the top level. It creates pressure on defences, it makes teams stand off rather than commit to tackles, and more importantly creates (or at least should now that a certain set-piece coordinator has gone to Norwich) goal scoring opportunities.

If Hurzeler is able to get as much out of set pieces as he did at St. Pauli, players like Facundo will be key to getting those opportunities.

I can't either, as @Bakero says, I can imagine the action but can't pinpoint any instance. Had a look into the data anyway and in the 42 times he was fouled last season (in just 17.6 90mins) 27 of the times come in just six matches.

6 times against Forest (h), 5 times against Liverpool (h), and 4 times against Bournemouth (h), Villa (a), Everton (a), Liverpool (a).

Facu failed to draw a foul in just 6 of his 27 appearances in the PL last year. He only started in one of them; Newcastle (a).

We all said the same about Sarmiento, but his two championship loans have done nothing for him really.

We are going to have more threads like this I suspect. We have an absolute glut of talented midfielders now, so some will have to go on loan or be sold or they simply won't get playing time.

I think Facu will be a terrific player.

But he needs games to achieve this. And he'll probably not be a really top player for another 4 years or so. Are we the best club to make this investment in him? Maybe 2 or 3 years ago we were. Not so sure now. All the signs are the manager prizes physicality

Loan, decent sell on option for Feyenoord, thumping sell on clause. We nurture a good trading relationship with Feyenoord, we will very likely get a chunk of cash in 3 years when he moves to where he will likely end up. A mid to high team in Spain

The EPL is getting faster and stronger year on year. IMO Facu hasn't got the physical attributes to be a success in the EPL....YET. He won't build those attributes sitting on the bench here. I'd loan him this season because IMO he won't play enough otherwise.
FWIW I'm not sure that the EPL is the right league for him but probably too early to say that definitively.

Last season showed us what happens when you dont have strength in depth. Gone are the days of relying on maybe 18 players to get you through the season. Now you need 25 and very few of them will play all the games. We need an embarrassment of riches in all positions because the way the game is played we will go deep into the squad.
