Stone Roses, Artic Monkeys and Oasis all have a shout here. Maybe not the greatest of all time, but many people’s favourites. I also love youth and young manhood by Kings of Leon

Okay, she was born and raised in my hometown... Okay, this is technically her  international debut...But there is not a more représentative Gen X album than Jagged Little Pill. Nearly every track was sonically experimental in some way and charted as a single. The lyrics are intensely personal and relatable, -- like our fellow Canadian Joni Mitchell's, our parents' own innovative, genre-busting soul-bearer. It's one of the most influential and best-selling albums in history for a reason. It's even inspired a long-running,, globally successful musical that touches and inspires all generations, including my teenage daughters.

PROOF? Here's the whole enchilada. Rock-grunge-pop perfection.

I think this was compulsory for undergrads in the 80s. Songs of Leonard Cohen, just what you need for reflective moments
