Well yes, I was talking tongue in cheek, especially about myself, but I'm pretty sure Wieffer won't be getting too much sleep tonight thinking about it, despite no-one dying
I don't see this at all. He's 100% not slow. He was slow witted and did not get to grips with this game at all. As loads of players don't from abroad and in the early days. But I don't see a slow player physically.
Looking at his fellow midfielders I’d have money on Baleba to beat him by the length of the penalty area on a sprint from Amex goal line to Amex goal line.
But slowness of thought was more in my thinking. He looked like an under 8 who’d never been that high up the pitch.
Hopefully it will come good because we need it to.
Having f***ed up royally he was charging back to try and make amends, and he seemed to be pretty rapid.
I really feel for him because, when the ball went in, he just dropped to his knees in the penalty area. He was utterly distraught. Players make mistakes a lot. Most of the time it doesnt lead to a goal. Most of the time it doesn't lead to a loss of points deep in added time.

Most of the time the mistake that leads to a goal isn't passing straight to the lone defender when through 4 on 1, either. Gotta feel for the lad really - it'll take a while for him to bounce back from that

Hopefully it will be a really good learning experience for the whole team. A lot of them are young and you could see they got carried away. It will hopefully be a good thing in the long run.
Maybe. But I also remember him coming on (can't remember which match) and looking sharp. It's clearly taking ages for him to adapt. I just feel like some of the reactions to him are outrageous.
Someone hung him tonight for being a 'marquee' signing. I'd put money on that person having never heard of him 10 months ago.
Baleba had amazing cameos last season and there were still people saying we'd wasted money on him.
I'm amazed fans never learn. Some players never work out but loads just need time and patience.
If he hadn't been the main protagonist in fouroneonelateequalisergate, his appearance would have just been 'bit of a sluggish and clumsy cameo'

I watched him too from the moment the ball left his foot and felt awful for him.
But it’s so bad it’s hard not to criticise him for it. I get the point that maybe four shouldn’t have charged forward but ultimately, I don’t think those four players would expect Wieffer to hit a Sunday League pass. They’re expecting one of them to walk it into the net because that’s what happens 99 out of 100 times. There then might’ve been minor things the defence could’ve done differently, but you cannot lay any significant blame at them for how they played out that situation. It’s all on Wieffer unfortunately.

Let’s decide to ruin the guy or accept he’s on a journey to get up to speed with the realities of the premier league. He’s obviously got something about him so let’s give him the benefit of the dought and accept he’s on then same curve the likes of Baleba and Mac needed?
This. If Wolves had the same situation they’d have scored and we’d all be saying “why did we only have one back?”.
Most of the time your team mates don't pile forward U9's park style and leave the whole match exposed to a flip over dry humping in 15 seconds.
we didn't get shafted by Everton or Wet-Sham, Villa or Burnley . . . .

It's not all on him. Four players bombing into the box like they did is terrible. They are all offering the same option when there was the opportunity to provide numerous different options that don't involve passing near the defender.
It is something a more mature head like Gross or Milner or Welbeck would have done. Hope the younger players learn.
If a four on one ends up in the back of your bet it's not just the result of a bad pass.
With the greatest of respect, that seems like an odd stretch and connection.
Gross would have had everyone pinned down at 2-0. No chance we surrender possession or positions again more often than not, after that went in with him playing.
But it's a new team. Kids, and we have to learn and find that new maturity. I'm sure that will happen nicely with our knowledgeable and non reactionary fanbase.

I’ve just put myself through the torment of watching the highlights again. It’s really harsh to blame any of the players defending the Wolves counter. Igor, in particular, does really well to slow them down whilst he’s waiting for support.
Unfortunately, the blame is squarely at Weiffer’s feet. It’s schoolboy stuff, and even then I’m not sure I’d have mucked that up so badly as a schoolboy.
Although admittedly the 3 players up alongside him should’ve managed the situation more with maybe one or two staying back… but I don’t think a Premier League player can legislate for Weiffer playing that as poorly as he did, so they probably thought they were guaranteed to put the game to bed.
Is it? That chance was a huge xG. 99 times out of 100 you get a shot away.
