He's a bit of a different level to the likes of Locadia and Alireza.
Discuss? Arguably Alireza had a better first impression

In fact I was someone who defended in strong terms Wieffer’s mistake on Saturday using that exact term, scapegoat, that you’ve just used.In fact, let's not mention Veltman's clearance which caused the problem or Lamptey's lack of a tackle or indeed Veltman's closing down for the final shot - much better to tear into the current scapegoat.
Yes - you're right. Collectively it was piss poor.In fact, let's not mention Veltman's clearance which caused the problem or Lamptey's lack of a tackle or indeed Veltman's closing down for the final shot - much better to tear into the current scapegoat.
Once he’d lost it he was the wrong side and could reasonably have expected one of the other two in front of Diaz to put a tackle and/or block in………Poor clearance under pressure, it was panicked and bad defending all round. Wieffer stands out for losing a physical 50/50 in his own box, to a player several inches shorter than him, then walking and watching as he scores. It’s REALLY bad, regardless of everyone else’s mistakes.
Don't think it's a fact at all. Thought he looked good today - not great perhaps but fine. We could and perhaps should be blaming an actual defender in Lampety who was consistently shocking in defence but I notice there isn't a thread about him.In fact I was someone who defended in strong terms Wieffer’s mistake on Saturday using that exact term, scapegoat, that you’ve just used.
It doesn’t change the fact that he was desperately poor tonight and heavily contributed to what turned out to be their winning goal, just as he sadly did with Wolves’ equalising goal on Saturday.
I’m not suggesting he’ll never come good (read my above posts instead of quoting your own) but right now he’s nowhere near the level needed to play for our first team. And that’s a fact, Jack.
So you’re scapegoating Lamptey?Don't think it's a fact at all. Thought he looked good today - not great perhaps but fine. We could and perhaps should be blaming an actual defender in Lampety who was consistently shocking in defence but I notice there isn't a thread about him.
The first 'battle' isnt even a battle. He just lets Diaz walk round himView attachment 191529
I’m sorry but that is just absolutely dogshit. He loses the first battle, then slowly half-jogs and watches his man score. That’s park football stuff.
Don't think there's a lack of effort at all. It's a collectively awful goal but once he's turned there's not a lot he can do. Watching him race back to defend just before he's clearly puffing a bit which isnt a surprise given his lack of game time but I'm having nothing to do with this pile on.Yes - you're right. Collectively it was piss poor.
But the thing is, us fans can't forgive a lack of effort - that's what the issue was here.
He performed really poorly at the weekend, and with an opportunity to bounce back tonight he looked like a deer in the headlights. I hope there is a great player in there and that he finds a higher level of performance but he’s looked off it so far.Everytime we lose, we got to make someone the scapegoat, don’t we? Looks like it is Wieffer today.
I'm not scapegoating anyone, I'm just pointing out that certain players seem to escape the attention. So you’re scapegoating Lamptey?
I thought he’d had a good game until that third goal, which quite frankly was a pathetic effort. He looked completely spent, so maybe it’s actually on Hurzeler for not subbing him.Hard to do when you’re at the game. I need to see the 3rd goal back, but otherwise he did what he’s supposed to do. Making interceptions, winning tackles. Few poor passes when under pressure but don’t think Moder helped him much in that regard.
Dunno, I mean, the body language is dreadful. That was someone who lost their individual battle and gave up in that moment. Fans hate to see that from their best players, let alone players who should be really trying to prove and establish themselves.Once he’d lost it he was the wrong side and could reasonably have expected one of the other two in front of Diaz to put a tackle and/or block in………
While this is true, would we risk giving him another chance until the FA Cup? At the moment his mistakes are proving extremely costly. He’s not exactly had the greatest start with us but I think he deserves a bit more time to adapt to the greater pace and intensity of the EPL. McCallister, Baleba and others all took time to adapt.
You’re possibly right - he may have to sit on the bench for a while yet, as Baleba did last season. While this is true, would we risk giving him another chance until the FA Cup? At the moment his mistakes are proving extremely costly.
