Was he not fully fit? He got significant minutes towards the end of last season - I don't think any of us really know that.
He averaged 30 mins per game over the final 13 matches, so although he contributed I'd argue that as were were total rubbish at the end of last season and were really struggling for spark, either fitness or form on his part was keeping him out of the team. No one else was at it from about March.

After such a long time out with such a significant injury, I suspect it takes months not weeks to reach full match fitness

How about you all get behind the lad, hes a fantastic player that just needs a goal

He was far from poor tonight, in fact he was always trying to be positive on the pitch.

Honestly its like if he dosent thrash one on from 30 yards or tear apart a side thats top of the prem after having not started a game for weeks he must have had a nighmtare and been shit

All i saw was a player trying his bloody hardest as he always does and trying to make something happen.
100% correct. I've genuinely started to not come on here after matches. It's so depressing. Incredible black and white, binary thinking. Almost always about really young players. 2 or 3 games in any direction and it's love or kill. He's an excellent player not playing well.

Some of the projection, where people seem to be able to judge what he's thinking and feeling, is incredible.

I'd say it's probably preferable that a load of middle aged fatties, snorting their dissatisfaction through a piglets pie, should manage their own reactionary nervous systems better.

That said, his two free kicks were f*king diabolical.

I reckon he's the sort of player whose free-kicks will mostly end up in Row Z, something like 1 in 20 will be spectacular goals.

I don’t know a huge amount about Julio, but he’s a 20 year old kid who had hardly been out of rural Paraguay until 2 years ago. I’m not sure he speaks decent Spanish, yet alone English (I’m pretty sure his first language is a Paraguayan dialect).
He’s a very long way from home and had a serious injury which stopped him doing (possibly) the only thing he loves.

What I saw last night was a guy desperate to make a difference. Ok, some of his dead ball efforts weren’t great - but right now he is still the best we have in that department.

Personally I’m cutting him some slack.

Agree. He's trying too hard atm I reckon. He'll be alright

with his obvious skill lets hope he comes good. However the main problem he shows no signs of been a team player and making runs etc for others. All he seems to want to do is recieve the ball and then try and score a worldie. Unfortunately this so often leads to him losing the ball and opposition is away
