Who gives a shit about the group stage?

The question is could Liverpool beat Bayern, Barca or Real Madrid anno 24/25 in the knockout stage and my answer would have been a firm no.
That's the same Bayern Munich that Aston Villa turned over. Liverpool were one of a few teams that can win the trophy. Unfortunately they came up against another just as capable.

At the time it said 'easily achievable'. I have a feeling that it may not include top trophies. They've won the league anyway, so that should cover it.
Winning a trophy feels like too much of a hostage to fortune, I would expect European qualification to be much more likely

Exactly. As the clause Liverpool met was a ‘negotiation clause’ not a buy-out clause as such, I’m pretty certain, after the WC win and performances etc we’d have basically said the add ons need to be very likely. Won’t stop many from quoting the untrue ‘price’ of the deal as the overall price (like some of the press did) - which was only the initial payment.

Of course, and Real Madrid also lost a few group stage games, as they sometimes do.
But they're clubs with a culture of winning. Clubs like that don't celebrate finishing in the top of some group stage, they don't see it as achieving anything.

Liverpool showed against Preston that they at the end of the day remain a loser club. Can't deal with the pressure of playing and beating Preston in a knockout game, GL doing it against Real Madrid.

Hmm, might have been Plymouth. Doesn't change much.
It should be noted that Liverpool played a severely under strength team at Home Park. A full first eleven would have ran up a cricket score.

Yeah they always find a reason not to win things.

Its the only big club in the world that can win three titles in 9 years and consider it a fantastic era.

Like I said, I don't see how they would have been able to challenge especially Real and Barcelona this season over two knockout games. Those teams are on a different level than any of the PL teams this season.

Darwin Nunez the one Blooms super computer got wrong.
I think if he had moved to us instead of Liverpool, he would have had a much better chance of success. He is clearly struggling with the pressure and would probably have benefitted from playing a few PL seasons for a smaller club.
