We went during February half-term. It didn't cross my mind to not go.

That said, we have discussed future holidays - we have nothing booked - and how we feel we'd like to give our custom to Canada rather than the US, so that's something we'll be strongly considering if and when the time comes to plan another trip in that direction.

Nothing was different, but I wouldn't have expected it to be really.

The political "highlight" was a talkative Uber driver who strayed into politics. We did some verbal dancing whilst we both tried to gently discover which "side" each of us was on. When it emerged we both had very similar opinions on Trump and what he was doing, the gloves were off and we both put the world to rights on the remainder of the trip.

Had to go to DC a couple of weeks ago for work. Seems like there is very, very little support for Trump there. Quite the opposite, in fact.

I did buy myself a MAGA hat as a souvenir though.

Went many times in my 20's and 30's but what puts me off returning to the States now is the cost of everything........and the ridiculous tipping expectations there.....

Far East for me and the family now is much more appealing and the cost/beauty and it's cheap.

I like value for money, and not getting ripped off.

I want me one of these to wear whilst BOOING him when he does his state visit.

I usually head across the border at least once a year but I won't be doing so this year*. Most of my friends here have made the same decision. My running club would usually go to a race in the US but we're sticking with a road trip to Montreal instead this year.

*except for Air France forcing me to come home via Detroit last month.

Mini-Exile wants to go to the World Cup next year and watch a couple of games and soak up the atmosphere, doesn’t mind what teams we see play but we’ve agreed we’ll try Mexico or Canada rather than the US. I’d love Mexico having backpacked through north to south a couple of times many years ago and the football passion 🇲🇽

Have you seen the Curb Your Enthusiasm episode where Larry has a MAGA hat? Useful items!

Gone other as have holidayed many times in America but have absolutely no plans to revisit in my lifetime as plenty of other places to visit. Trump would curtail it as a destination anyway.

Mexico is probably the better option. It's going to be very hard to get tickets for the matches in Canada. There will only be a handful of games across Toronto and Vancouver with relatively small stadiums. You may not think of Canada as a football-mad country, but there are huge communities of immigrants, or descendents of immigrants from football-mad countries. Thousands of people are out on the streets partying if the likes of Portugal, Brazil, Italy, Colombia, or any number of South American or European teams win a knockout match in the World Cup.

Lefties they don't mind the the mass shootings at the shopping mall, being mugged by a crazed fentanyl addict, or being in the middle of a drive by attack between the bloods and crips........But Donald trump no not going 🙄

Hoping to go in April and later in the year as well. Was going to do the World Cup next year regardless, ideally in all 3 hosting countries.

Having dated a Houstonian for over 5 years, it's quite possible to love a nation and its people whilst hating its current political trajectory.
