An American ex's very well connected dad really really didn't like me, and I doubt his opinion changed by our relationship ending.
Knowing a few favours he's done for people I suspect I'm listed for a very hard time should i enter US territory.
So even if it wasn't for Trump my bottom really doesn't want me to go.

Lefties they don't mind the the mass shootings at the shopping mall,
Happening mainly because of Republican attitudes towards gun violence
being mugged by a crazed fentanyl addict,
Very unlikely to happen in most areas you're visiting.

Also maybe look up why drug addiction is an issue in the USA (hint, it's the government)
or being in the middle of a drive by attack between the bloods and crips
Again, mainly due to Republicans and targeting of minority neighbourhoods historically leading to massive wealth and opportunity disparities.
........But Donald trump no not going 🙄
Another Republican (probably the worst of the lot no less), yeah I'd give it a miss.

Currently going in June visiting a few national parks. Of course this could all change if the UK Government change their travel advice to America, or we get refused entry after landing

While there I will not be talking about Trump or anything connected to him. My stock answer will be that I don't follow American politics at all

Absolutely adored the USA growing up as a kid in the 80's watching Miami Vice through wide eyes, listening to the music, seeing the fashion, the cars - you name it.

Went there a lot in the 90's with the Mrs, and the 00's and 10's with the kids. Have been a few times in the last 5 years which has put me off the place.

I don't give a monkeys about Biden or Trump and the politics - they're all as bad as each other. It's the whole feel of the place. It used to be twice as good and half the price wherever you went. It's now twice the price and half as good. The Americans, on the whole, just seem really pissed off with life.

And don't even get me started on the 'tipping culture'.......

Why cancel a trip over 1 guy? The whole country is mental the moment you get through airport security. I’d still go.

I wouldn't recommend it to anybody right now. I wouldn't be confident of not ending up with an all expenses paid vacation in an ice detention center.

Give it at least a year, maybe Trump will stop waving his dick around by then. Or the situation will otherwise be resolved, or resolve itself.

On the other hand, if you do decide to come, you might well find some bargain, what with everybody else avoiding us.

Supposed to be going to a Packers game at Lambeau this winter as well as plans for the World Cup next year. At the moment i'm not thinking about changing plans but will see what the situation is closer the time. Certainly keeping an eye on it all.

We’ve done these tours a few times, they’re incredible, including three last April.
We were the only non Americans apart from an Irish couple, everyone else were visitors from across the 50, plus the amazing tour guides. We kinda touched on US politics, I was circumspect so as not to annoy on their internal business, but everyone was clearly anti MAGA. Americans are passionate their family histories, proud of their immigrant forebears …. Trump‘s obsession with certain races and immigrants riles.
I remember the tenement museum (and the actual house) ….fascinating and I remember the guides were very knowledgeable.

Its a gigantic country with a lot of variations in culture. I'm sure there are many places in the US where I would really appreciate the visit. If I went there I'd go to some of the less intense states... maybe one in the desert or a cold one.

Never been there as its awfully expensive and thats not likely to change. I also just don't know if they'd let me in

I don't think Donald Trump should prevent people from go there to visit friends or family though. In theory it can't be much different to visiting China or some other totalitarian country: as long as you don't cause a scene, its unlikely to cause you any trouble. As for the misery... well, don't we often go places where half of the joy is dependent on ignoring the misery of the poor?

Don't abandon friends or family because of some demagogue muppet puppet. Especially NOT if they're trumpists... the path to sanity is to meet people with different background and opinions, bringing everyone out of their filthy bubbles to breath the clean air. If the kill of friendships and family relations for political reasons, all is kind of lost.

Wife works for a small independent clothing company that was due to go to a convention type thing in Boston, and we were going to tag a family holiday on after. But those plans have been scrapped because of the threat of tarrifs and the uncertainty of whether their small US market will remain profitable or not.

My UK cousin (+US wife) lives in Petaluma, Sonoma County, north of San Francisco. Been out there for 18 years now. ...
I spent a night in Petaluma a few years ago when I took a trip to hike amongst the Redwoods. I stayed in a Motel 6, which just happened to be a couple hundred yards from the Lagunitas Brewing Company. Result!

After France, the US is my most visited country. There’s lots to like, but also lots to dislike. I dont have any plans to re-visit. Their immigration guys are a law unto themselves and if they’re empowered to ask even more daft questions than they already do I might be sarcastic and end up in the slammer….best I hold off for a while.

Expensive for a Swede? One of the benefits of living in, and being financially acclimatized to, London was that I never found anywhere expensive and most places cheaper.

Not currently got any plans to go, but our American niece is planning to get married 'in the next few years' so hopefully we'll all be going to New Jersey for a family wedding - assuming of course WW3 hasn't already broken out by then which may put a bit of a damper on the celebrations.

Like others I've been to America on several occasions and met with nothing but kindness and friendliness. Yes the fact that restaurant/bar staff have to beg for a living is outrageous and offensive, but there is more to America than Trump.
