Putin is definitely the Hitler of the modern world. Expansionist, cold-hearted, paranoid.

Trump is Mussolini. A fat, shouty idiot who might make one or two things better but ultimately is a complete moron hamstrung by his own incompetence and vanity.

Hopefully the lampposts are ready.
I'm not sure we really need to decide who in history Trump reminds us of.

Only if you had to answer which is more like Hitler and which is more like Stalin would I be able to agree with you on this occasion.
As part of a History A level exam.
But is not a question I would ask.
It is not too dissimilar from "Which division 1 side of the 1970s does the current Albion most resemble: Nottingham Forest or Derby County?

I'm not seeing much evidence that Putin needs to be worshipped by adoring masses while shouting.
And I am not sure that Trump is much of an embodiment of machismo.
Neither seem to be interested in killing all the Jews, either.

I understand that seeking analogy is a way of understanding.
I do it all the time in my job.
Rarely do I hit the target. That's the nature of the beast.

Here we have a couple of one-offs.
I'd like to think that we can find better ways of dealing with them than bombing the shit out of them, or waiting for them to die.
Sadly however.....it seems we have yet to learn what these ways may be.

Just been watching the funeral and musing on the stark contrasts between two global leaders - one POTUS and the other POPE Francis.

Francis was a Pope whose legacy will be one of building bridges and pursuing a dialogue of inclusion.

Trump’s legacy will be one of building walls and exclusion.

I hope it was a very uncomfortable experience for him listening to the Dean of the Cardinals eulogising on how Pope Francis welcomed immigrants, the disadvantaged and did so much to bring attention to Climate Change.

It probably went right over Trump’s head. He’s not a man than can read the room let alone have any idea what true ‘humanity’ actually means.

Who knows, maybe something might come out of this afterall?

A lasting legacy to PF if so …

Posting on his social media account, Trump said there was "no reason for Putin to be shooting missiles into civilian areas", adding: "It makes me think that maybe he [Putin] doesn't want to stop the war, he's just tapping me along, and has to be dealt with differently, through 'Banking' or 'Secondary Sanctions?'"

Has he finally woken up or will he change his mind again when he gets back to the US?

Blimey. If this is what he really thinks now, things may change. But I suspect he'll say the opposite tomorrow.
