Potter’s tactics with that squad is like trying to play an unnecessarily complex and highbrow Japanese opera with a school recorder orchestra.

They’ll eventually get it in about two years time, just like we did. A fanbase that’s already singing “the German’s right, we’re f-ing shite” ain’t gonna give him that long.

Are we any better re FH given our respective positions in the table? I accept that I am included in not being convinced

But for those two very late goals NSC would look very different today and the post-match pressers would have looked very different
Can we not count the late goals that went in against us at Leicester and home to Wolves then please? Let's be consistent if we are looking for excuses to criticise the manager.

I'm talking purely about yesterday. Any axe to grind is purely yours
Well I was commenting as you had replied to a person who has been critical. There are plenty of posts decrying Hurzeler and yours actually, whether intended or not, supported those. I guess I am fed up with the trolls who are so over the top and again not aiming this at you or the other poster you replied to. They all go so quiet when we put a few good results together and then come back screaming when we lose.

I take no happiness in seeing that press conference. Yes I was frustrated by the smug celebrating when they got a throw in after taking the lead. I'm as happy as anybody to see is beat them. But he looks an absolute mess
Yep, nearly as shellshocked as the lads the morning after he f***ed off to Chelsea taking almost all their coaches with him.

Just far enough away from LDC

That was the morning Crofts and Lallana took training. The club were trying to contact Lallana to ask him to help Crofts and they couldn't get him.. Because he had already got to the training ground having on their own volition worked with Crofts the night before on plans.

He (Lallana) will be a great manager

Absolute cr@p IMO. He spent ten years at the club, largely as captain. An important role model, class act and simply a great person.

When Potter left, he had two choices. Leave for more money with someone who believed in him, or stay and hope the new guy might give him a role. His decision was justified when RDZ brought in his own six man backroom team.
But didn’t he promote Crofts, pretty sure he'd have kept Bruno if he'd stayed.

Entitled fans such as West Ham like the idea of a long term coach but they actually don't have the stomach for it. They'll want him gone by October if they are not around the top 8.
I really don't get what makes them think they are entitled to anything. Even in the great days of Moore, Hurst and Peters they weren't that great, an FA Cup and Cup Winners Cup. Not a lot since just the occasional cup. Yoyo club for a while too.

It's a funny old game innit?

I remember naively thinking that Potter would not be swayed by the Chelsea interest.
My reasoning was.
  • he's an intelligent football obsessive will want to see this project out
  • He is not an egotist and understands the value of our set up that is giving him everything he needs to be successful
  • Chelsea are a basket case and their fan's won't have the patience to allow him the time to prove himself
  • We are on the cusp of achieving great things and he will be in the frame for much better jobs, once he achieves stuff with us
  • Our squad is better than theirs
  • His main weakness is has he got what it takles to manage a squad of huge egos
Of course all of that proved to be ridiculously naive and Potter decided that he was the greatest manager who had ever lived and grabbed the opportunity, ignoring all the red flags that were obvious to everyone.

It turned out exactly as expected and started the downward trajectory of his career.
Robert De Zerbi gets the legendary status that was probably due to Potter.

But he's loaded.

It's the same with Sheff Wed, apart for a league cup 30 years ago, most of their success pre-dates WW2 and even WW1! Basically everyone bar a few (probably) who witnessed these honours are no longer alive.

I actually love this new negative Graham Potter, hope he stays 😂

"If you want me to swear, I'll swear" - please swear Graham, it would make my day!

Would like him to smash things, and punch the microphone wind screen and stuff like that.

He (Lallana) will be a great manager

"Southampton have confirmed that new head coach Adam Lallana will miss the first eight games of the Championship season due to a shoulder injury sustained while pointing at cones during training yesterday. The club have refused to put a timeline on his return but are hopeful it will be after the international break".
