I’ve been so disappointed with our fan base this year, or at least those on NSC. We used to be respected because we knew our history and appreciated the journey travelled. We had a sense of still being proper fans not glory chasers. Now we are becoming self-entitled dickheads. And not just the newbies. Some who really really have forgotten where we have been and what we’ve achieved - reminds me of the likes of Tottenham and Leeds. Really disappointing
This “remember where we came from” line is getting so old.

Most people, after all, can do more than two things at once ie remember where we came from and also looks objectively at where we are now to discuss whether certain aspects are taking us in the right direction.

And we are all allowed to have different opinions.

The biggest problem on here now, is that there’s a ton of smarmy twats who get rude the moment you disagree with their opinion.

But football is all about having dreams and a club like ours, is it not good to dream about winning a cup or getting champions league football? This season was arguably our best chance with other big guns faltering. Isn't it just a bit disappointing that Forest for example have been pretty damn good and it could've been us?. I wouldn't call myself self-entitled in any way, just hoping and dreaming that our beloved Brighton will 1 day win a trophy and maybe 1 day test ourselves against the very best teams in europe.

We all have the same hopes and dreams for our club. The difference is that some of our fans start throwing their toys out of the plan when we hit a bump in the road. As you say this season can be seen as a opportunity missed but to respond by calling for the managers head and slagging off our players smacks of demanding or expecting success rather than hoping for it. To be fair only a few of our fans have gone this far but they post so ferociously on the subject that it has been embarrassing for the rest of us.

Yes, but calling for the manager to be sacked every time we so much as concede a corner is insane. (Ok...a bit of exaggeration for comic effect, but my point stands). Football fans used to let managers bed in, build up gradually, see what they're like in season 3 when their own players and philosophy are fully in place. Now, everything is NOW, NOW, NOW! Give the lad a chance to complete the season at least.
Many were frothing at the bit about Potter when we'd go on those long spells with zero goals and few wins - yet suddenly it clicked, we finished 9th, and started the following season like a train - and everybody was gutted when he went. But if he'd gone in the February of '22 instead of the September, most would have driven him themselves.
"We should be right up there !!" ? yes, but 8 other clubs are saying the same thing , plus the 11 below ...Not every club can be top, only 6 can be top six, etc etc.

I think one thing to remember with Forest is that they spent a crap load of money the season they came up and still struggled not to go straight back down. I think they were only 4 points above the drop. It does take a while to get all the new toys playing together.

And throw in a new manager too. I don't think we should be too surprised at how things have gone.

But like you said, it's frustrating because it seems like this season was a golden opportunity.

But does that make them dickheads or awful fans though. Surely only impatient and maybe a bit short termist. Overreacting to overreactions slips into a bit pot calling the kettle black. Mostly it’s just venting, a very harmless activity.

Take a look at the Bristol Rovers messageboard talking about Calde. NSC is a love shrine to Fab by comparison. The stable sentiment towards club ownership here means there invariably tends to be a fairly even and healthy exchange between the optimists and pessimists among our support, absolutely nothing really to get that fussed about

I accept that calling for managers head and slagging off our players does make it sound demanding rather than hoping. To be honest all the "get rid of him", "should never be in the 1st team", "nowhere near good enough for a Premier league player" posts about our players I tend to ignore. Every player has an off day, we don't see them training every day and yes, some do seem entitled but they are supporters and express their frustrations differently. The younger supporters (so called JCL's) who weren't around to see the dark days 'where we have come' are the fans of the future and will hopefully, continue to support the club long after I've gone.

Hoping and dreaming are the staple of any football supporter, and unless you are a fan of one of the Big Clubs, the way to approach any season.

Expecting though, is a different matter and leads to the inevitable entitled argument.

Forest breached FFP rules last season and are arguably still benefiting from this.

And there’s always at least one big gun faltering each season these days, our time will come.

Other than the 2022/23 Season where we obviously finished 6 and secured Europe - our best Premier League finish was 9th with 51 Points…

We current have 51 points and are in 9th with 4 more to play…

Although I wouldn’t bet on it… we could still secure European football for the second time in our 100+ year history.

Whilst bedding in a new inexperienced manager, a half dozen inexperienced players and the highest injury record in the league.

I think it hasn’t helped that we seem to have been on good and bad runs. If you took all the results of the season and mixed them up I don’t think anyone would be too upset with where we are… I think we have been good for a handful of games and people think we are incredible… then we a poor for a handful of games and everyone thinks we are terrible. The average is somewhere in the middle.

If we finish 8-10th with our second highest points total, a QF of the FA cup and a full pre-season with some strengthening of our back line… my mojo is still very high for next year.

Could we have done better… yes.

Has the season been a disaster… no.

This. Tenth would have been ‘par’ for me at the start of the season, with the injuries it’s a bit better than that. Definitely a ‘what could have been’ season though and hugely frustrating at times. We all have different barometers when reacting to highs and lows, unfortunately SM allows anyone to vent their frustration immediately - I also find some of the intense negativity after a defeat laughable personally but simply avoid most of it (on here) on the day of a defeat. I’d resolved not go on NSC on Saturday at 2-1 with 3 mins left 🤣 It’s usually calmed down a bit T+1 and there’s a bit more objectivity.

Interesting summer/pre-season ahead.

Nice, some positivity.

How did it feel?
Nice to win not a great performance take away two worldies and we lose 2-1 we concede way to many. We are better than that.
Game had sold out, plus there was some dollar made on the exchange PLUS there were queues outside the Terrqce before the game had even ended….I dont think Barber will be too concerned.
Isn’t that the reason ST holders are getting a slap on the wrist when they don’t list their tickets if not attending? They want a full stadium for the cameras.

It's interesting that although this is likely to be our second best ever season,(pts- wise).
The debate about whether Huerzeler has had a good season or not is a genuinely interesting discussion.

I have no idea how much of an impact he has had.
I'm prepared to accept that he is in charge, therefore credit is due to him.
But it really doesn't feel the same as when Potter and De Zerbi were in charge.

With both of them, you could pin-point their strengths and weaknesses.

A horrible analogy but we pulled the fit girl on the first day of the holiday and now we're grumbling because we're stuck with the ugly girl who tastes like fags and wkd.
We had a Ferrari but couldn't afford the maintenance; we're now tooling around in a Mercedes E class estate. A bit dull in comparison but hopefully better for the long haul.

I guess it’s a bit of both.

He needed two wonder strikes to beat West Ham.

Papering over the cracks.
And ONLY two assists from one of the £200m worth of talent that was SPAFFED up the wall in the summer.

I'm honestly more disappointed when Brighton fans call other Brighton fans dickheads just for having different views about our football
I've gotta be honest, anyone who DEMANDS that a manager be sacked or says 'game over, there is no chance we are getting anything from this' during a game, only to then do a complete 180° and post celebratory comments at the end of the game IS a bit of a dickhead.

Well.... I was muttering that we had thrown this game away , and bemoaning "just 2 points from the last 18 available" ....as the move for the equaliser was taking place. That is reality , with 88 minutes on the clock. But this was all whilst sitting in my seat , hoping.....

That's a very different scenario and more than understandable/justifiable.
