If it wasn't for us being in the running for Europe I'd like Palace to beat Citeh. Serial cheats that keep getting away with it and keep getting rewards, they are the likes of Chelsea are hollowing out the game.
Can we save this sort of justifiable self-righteousness until after WE have won a trophy? I will tolerate them winning something only AFTER we've done it.

Done a Frexit, now in London
So....the ideal situation is that Man City absolutely VIOLATE Palace

Yes.

Palace to loose in a cup final and then go down the following season please.

Having read that, I think the best option is to finish as high as possible.

You are John ‘pot as many balls as you can’ Virgo and I claim my £5.

Unfortunately arsenal winning the champs league will not get an extra place as they are already in top 5, I believe. But, what about Spurs or Utd winning the Europa League and not being in the top 8, what happens then?
Nothing - they'll just win a bonus place.

No one else loses out elsewhere.
Ah, but what if BOTH Man Utd and Spurs win the Europa League? What then?

Ban, surely?

Anyone actually wanting to give MORE bragging rights to that lot.

Arsenal winning the Champions League and finishing 5th would change things. 6th would get a Champions League spot as well (plus push other qualification places down a place). This is because the extra place given for the co-efficient ranking has to go to a team that hasn’t already qualified for the Champions League.

But that isn’t going to happen.
So theoretically one year there could be 7 English teams in the Champions League. As you’ve described above but with a non top 6 side winning the Europa League.

Yes or 7th could qualify for the Champions League if 5th and 6th win the CL and Europa League between them.

I get your point. But Man City winning another FA Cup isn’t really going to make a difference to anything. While winning the FA Cup and qualifying for Europe would be huge for Palace. So I’m all in for a City win

I have lost any faith that there will ever be a points deduction.

Really don't see why the PL have wasted so much money on Lawyers, if they didn't have the bollocks to see it through to a meaningful conclusion.

Clear as mud.
I think all it means is, best case scenario, Newcastle finish in the Top 6 AND Man City win the FA Cup AND finish in the Top 5, the European places go down to 8th:
1st - 5th ECL
6th - 7th Europa League
8th Conference

If Man City don't win the FA Cup, that Europa League place goes to Palace. Newcastle look likely to finish in the top 6 and will qualify for the Europa League as a minimum, so their Conference League spot will go to the side in 7th.

Man U or Spurs winning doesn't affect the above.

You’re so impatient. There’s a decent chance of a verdict being announced somewhere around 2034-6, and then - after a few years of appeals etc- some kind of final decision in the mid 2040s.

The thought of that lot winning the cup is maddening on so many levels. It's their third final, all having come after we got ours, so they're romping away with that little battle. If they win, then they get bragging rights forever that they were the first to win the famous trophy. And if they win, they get the European berth their league performance does not warrant, meaning we only get to enjoy bragging rights over them for one single solitary year.

Nay, nay and thrice nay. It must not happen. Citeh for the cup. etc.

Newcastle have the Conference spot, but will finish top 7, so this is passed on to league position.

Man City win FA Cup and finish top 7, 8th gets Conference League.

Man City win FA Cup and points deduction, 7th gets Conference League, City get Europa. (But in this scenario we could finish 7th)

Palace win FA Cup, 7th gets Conference League, Palace in Europa.

Palace win FA Cup, City points deduction, 7th gets Conference, but we could finish 7th.

Chelsea winning Conference League doesn't matter unless they don't qualify for Europa by other means. Irrelevant, they won't end up in 8th.

United or Tottenham winning the Europa League gets them a separate spot in the Champions League, not to our detriment. Irrelevant.

Basically it comes down to Palace losing the final and us finishing ahead of Bournemouth and Fulham. Any other scenarios are very unlikely.

I could be wrong but if Man City win the FA Cup then places six and seven are Europa League places and Conference League is eighth. But if Chelsea win the Conference League and finish sixth then Europa League spots would go to seven and eight and the Conference League spot would be ninth. Is that correct?

Yes.

Lose the Cup final, lose Glasner to Leverkusen, lose Wharton & Eze to Man City/ Liverpool and Guehi to Newcastle and find rare archaeological relics ( Hodgson possibly) where they need to put the foundations of their new stand, which sets it back a further ten years, by which time the proceeds from player sales will have inflated away compared to the increase in building costs.
On top of that Suzanna Reid to get sacked for inappropriate texting to Trump.
Anything else I may have missed?
