[TV] Netflix - What's good to watch?

^ agree about the Euro doc, depressing/grim, even though it did feature Jay from The Inbetweeners. Not a great watch.

[TV] Netflix - What's good to watch?

From the trailer it seems to be less about the on-field amd more about the off-field, those who stormed the turnstiles without tickets etc.

Crash Landing on You, a K-drama. Not for the faint-hearted, this romantic drama tells the tale of a wealthy South Korean woman accidentally crashing her paraglider into North Korea and her subsequent attempts to escape the Hermit Kingdom while falling in love with an NK soldier. Something for...

[TV] Netflix - What's good to watch?

^ unless I imagined both, in one scene Marge uses a self-adhesive stamp, which weren't around then, and when the Inspector interviews Ripley the first or second time he refers to the wrong person, either Dickie or Tom, when it should have been the other, and not as a bluff either.

The first Talented Mr Ripley film adaptation is 1960's 'Plein Soleil' starring French heartthrob Alain Delon. Not a bad watch. Allegedly the Aussie's tried to do their own remake in 1982, called 'The Talented Mr Ah Ripper Mate' starring Paul Hogan as Marge and Dame Edna Everage as Tom.

Ha. :) Talking of music, Johnny Flynn, who plays Dickie in Ripley, wrote and sung the theme tune to The Detectorists, as you're probably aware, and is sometimes in a band with his sister, The Sussex Wit. Excellent vocalist/musician, his sister too.

Exactly TC, definitely an 'inside job' that bit of casting Dakota Fanning is excellent in it.

^ I’ve gone back to it, Moutarde, and 5 episodes in I have to say it’s won me over and well worth anyone’s time. Freddie Miles was very bizarre left-field casting, it’s actually Sting’s daughter who plays him, someone who now identifies as non-binary, while Freddie is supposed to be this alpha...

[TV] Netflix - What's good to watch?

Got to 10 minutes before the end of episode 1 of Ripley and the 'wooden' beach scene where he meets Dickie and Marge had me switching off it was just so bizarre and stilted. Great noir aesthetic but the rest of it left me cold. As others have pointed out, at 47 Scott is far too old to be...

Really not sure on this one. The film is such an all-time classic that I don’t know why they didn’t leave that book alone and adapt another of Highsmith’s works instead, or just make a Ripley series with a generic ‘Ripley’ script. Also not convinced Scott is the actor for that role.

Anyone done that highly rated Korean revenge series ‘The Glory’ ? (not to be confused with the Goldstone chant ‘Barry Lloyd’s Glory’)

[TV] Netflix - What's good to watch?

Thieving Irish travellers, Scouse crims, cockney geezers and gangsters, Eastern European muscle, the ‘token’ black enforcer who has almost no dialogue, the mixed race chilled stoner who cultivates the weed, the machete wielding female Asian boss, it couldn’t be more loaded with lazy, outdated...

The Gentleman E5 and the Irish travellers had me bailing. Why does Ritchie feel the need to throw everything in his back catalogue at something? Up to that point I absolutely loved it.

Finally got through Kleo, as recommended on this thread, an excellent, quirky watch. Jella Hasse carries the show but the acting all round is superb, if somewhat intentionally hammy at times.

Not listened to any of his music before, not really my thing, but mein gott that Lewis Capaldi film on Netflix is well worth a butchers, he’s absolutely unique and hilario (“Thanks, Nan...for errr dying”) :lolol: And his dad has no filter at all. 7.6/10 For anyone with Disney plus, the...
