Albion defender Jan Paul van Hecke is on his way home.
For a worrying ten minutes or so, medical staff attended to the Dutchman after a clash of heads with Brentford’s Yunus Konak in the closing stages of the 4-2 defeat to Brentford.
No one likes to see a player stretchered off, but that was how the afternoon ended for van Hecke.

After the game, striker Danny Welbeck was asked about his teammate:
“JP is conscious, but he’s a bit groggy. He’s a warrior, and hopefully he’s okay and can make a quick recovery. Hopefully it’s nothing too serious and he can fight through this.”
The club published an update this evening confirming van Hecke had been discharged from a west London hospital, where he’d been sent as a precaution, and was on his way home to Brighton.
With Albion’s defensive options severely restricted through injury, Fabian Hurzeler will undoubtedly be hoping one of Albion’s Player of the Season contenders will be able to face West Ham next week.
