excellent

as a teenager growing up in Eastbourne my first 'out of town pull' was a kooky little goth bird in the 'Green Dragon'. Years later on a nostalgia pub crawl I couldn't find the place and couldn't work out where it used to be.

from the picture I'm 99% sure it's 'The Office' now

shame, mind you the Thai food's not bad

I am confused, please be more specific

1) yes it is bad (the food)
2) yes it's not bad (the food)
3) yes it is the office (the erstwhile Green Dragon)
4) yes it is a shame (that it changed)
5) yes it is excellent (the feeling of satisfaction that looking at pictures of old pubs give)

thanks in advance

The Office is indeed what used to be The Green Dragon (when I first moved to Brighton ten years ago I did an internet pub guide which involved me visiting and reviewing all 347 pubs in Brighton and Hove so I have noticed the name changes since).

The Green Dragon was quite infamous in that someone got stabbed to death in the gent's loos there. It became The Office about five years ago. Confusingly, since the basement bar under the Caxton Arms was also called The Office at the time.

You're right. Just found a website that lists all the murders in Brighton (complete with map). Jesus.

"10.5.1994 Gentlemen's toilet of the The Green Dragon pub (now The Office), Sydney Street.

Thomas Connor, aged 33.

Thomas Connor, a charity worker (Red Cross and Care-Coops) who happened to be gay, was peeing at the urinals of The Green Dragon pub when David Soar, aged 29, and known to friends as 'Mad Dog', walked into the toilet and eyed him up and down.

Apparently unprovoked, Soar knocked Connor to the ground and repeatedly stamped on his face. While Connor lay bleeding to death, Soar rifled through his pockets and took twenty pounds.

It is said that Connor had moved to The Green Dragon from The George pub in Trafalgar Street, from which he had been thrown out after an alleged altercation with Sergeant Stone, the Punch & Judy man. It's suggested that the psychotic Soar thought Connor was Sergeant Stone, following him.

It took two days for the police to identify Connor's body, due to the intensity of the attack."
