This Saturday will see a charity game at Worthing's home ground between Albion legends, led by Guy Butters and a Rockinghorse charity all stars team lead by Joe Wilkinson and including Masie Adams, Joe Marler and many others, plus a very special celebrity manager who will be familiar to 99% of this board.

It's been organised by the landlord of the Caxton, Brett Mendoza, as a thank you for all the care his twins, born prematurely, have had at the Royal Alex and Trevor Mann. Brett's threatened to make a return to the pitch himself.

I can't stress enough what a good cause this is. No Albion game and £12 for adults / £5 kids. 2pm kickoff.

@Bozza has agreed to this sticky and it's a game anyone who remembers our Withdean legends should be on board with.

Mansfield Woodhouse, actually.
I’d say not. Just on way home from non league where £20 entry, £6.50 a cheese burger, £4 chips, £3 a tea etc. Nope, I think this charity match is cracking value and hope it gets support it clearly deserves.
OK, I seem to be a bit behind the times!
I've just checked the prices for an upcoming local one, thinking it would be cheaper due to the less affluent area, and it's actually the same...+ booking fee. Maybe it would be better to list the players who have said they will appear, like these have...

Hopefully, you are joking otherwise you are actually bitching about the entry price for an event seeking to raise money to help sick babies and their families, not to mention it's only 12 quid, FFS.
My posts have been about economics and marketing. Your sentiments could also apply if the admission price was £50 adults/£20 kids, but you'd only get a fraction of the attendance and less total receipts as a result. I appreciate it's not easy to ascertain the price which would provide the optimum yield, particularly for a one-off event. This is why I suggested more effort be made to publicize the participants like Mansfield Town have done, then more people would consider the price reasonable.

Let's bring this back on track. :)

This sounds like a whole lot of fun in aid of an excellent cause and an ideal opportunity for an impromptu NSC meet-up/curry night.

@Guinness Boy - having met you at a REMF game a few years ago, I hope we can have a beer together as before.

Any of the original REMF team/management fancy joining me?

@Uncle Spielberg @zefarelly @Brovion @Dave the OAP @Stumpy Tim (he scored 2 goals, you know...)

With OGH among the ex-Albion players named, I'm sorely tempted to bring the following sign:

'Hart, can I have your shirt please? Thanks, Hart's Shirt'

I'll deal with the resulting existential questions in due course.

Agree £12 is fine for this charity match but I’m curious about the £2O charge and £3 tea for a non league game, is that a National League team?

I suggested more effort be made to publicize the participants

- There's a new Albion podcast today with Joe Wilkinson who is captaining one of the teams https://www.brightonandhovealbion.com/pages/en/podcasts

- The celebrity guests include Joe Marler , Jon Richardson, Matt Baynton, and Maisie Adam and they're managed by Jeff Stelling.
- The Albion legends include Warren Aspinall, Gary Hart , Dan Harding and Guy Butters

Unfortunately I’m not going to be there mate. My son’s wish for his 18th birthday was tickets to the UFC in London and the only time they’re there is this Saturday so we’re all up in London.

I posted this after recording Albion Roar with Brett to promote the game and will be donating instead (he’s doing other stuff too, including a sky dive if people can’t make it).

Does anyone know if tickets have been issued for this?
I purchased on line and have an email receipt of payment with an order number. Is someone going to be checking these order numbers at the turnstiles? There’s no printable or electronic tickets attached, so I presume so. Seems like a ball-ache for someone unless hardly anyone has purchased.

Ohh, that's a fine idea, I'd love to see you and the other REMF pioneers again. At the moment I can't make it as I have 'family stuff' that day, but I will see if I can rearrange things.

See if you can get that bloke who scored the first-ever REMF goal to come. I can't remember who it was .....

EDIT: And is it POTG? I probably won't know what I'm doing until Saturday itself.

I believe this to be the case, the email is your ticket.

Excellent! Hope you can make it. Tickets available on the day I think.

That's quite an eclectic list of celebs - it never crossed my mind that Mathew Baynton of Horrible Histories and Ghosts was a footballer but here he is.

I'm already imagining him as a mercurial playmaker with poetry in his boots. :)
