Love this show and the strongest set of acts ever. Eden Choi the winner for me. Massive following how is this even possible ? Can someone explain ? 12 to 1 to win is absurd

Wow. I just don't get how something can be so amazing, and yet still so dull.
I've always found magic to the most tedious performing art too.

There is a very good reason why it isn't mainstream TV entertainment any more. I think the career advisors at school caught up the feeling of the general population and warned those tempted that the general response will be I couldn't care less.

I was hoping for an explanation how he did it and had about 200 cards on his person within 30 seconds
Long post klaxon! Being a geek with an interest in magic I can tell you that a lot of what he did is effects anyone can buy - the moving diamond, the screwed up card to stick, the coloured balls, the spinning card and others too…he’s an impressive performer very smooth at doing them but I can imagine many professional magicians grumpy that he’s not doing much original for parts of his act however skilled he does them.

How he produced hundreds of cards? So there’s a reason he wears all black, barely moves his body, and was on stage from the start: I’m reasonably certain he had a false front sewn into his shirt, possibly trousers too from his hand movements, loaded with cards that would be obvious from the weight of them if nothing else if he moved too much. It’s not a new concept - it’s been used to produce doves and more for years - he’s just especially good at it and at masking the retrieval.

He’s incredibly skilled at sleight of hand too but camera angles helped him out at least one noticeable moment: that card production part of his act he can only do on a stage, not close up or with a camera showing everything. I know it’s subjective and based on what you know about stuff to make a comparison, but I don’t think he’s a great magician, he’s a very good performer though.

I've watched all this year's episodes - seems half the acts are not even British.

Maybe "Earth has got talent" rebranding required?

Almost as absurd as Austrailia competing in the Eurovision song contest ....

Phah!!

It’s a farce. These shows used to have guys like Paul Potts, who managed a Carphone Warehouse, win. For the last decade or more it’s sob story after sob story, dramatic zoom, slow motion, while judges spout out their pre-rehearsed lines. The audio sweetening and autotune of the “good” acts, combined with the audience’s tailored responses make the current product the talent show equivalent of McDonalds.

Speaking of McDonalds, they’ve quietly sponsored numerous established acts which have appeared on Britain’s Got Talent, America’s Got Talent and The X-Factor.

Is it a British talent show contest at all, when half the acts are

a) already established performers and even celebrities from across the globe, sometimes even with #1 hits to their name and hundreds of paid gigs behind them.

b) on the corporate payroll of a conglomerate paying for their costumes, rehearsals, choreography in return for a slice of the pie if they make it big

c) not at all based on a process of meritocracy, where talented performers are judged on merit, but rather on who would make the most entertaining 30 seconds of content when uploaded immediately to TikTok/Youtube.

The format needs a long, long break - whether it’s the dancing, the singing or the skating. It’s tired, boss

I quite liked Diversity but then I'm woke. Bet that kid's too big to throw now though.

This. Penn and Teller on their ‘Fool Us’ shown would have sussed everything he did in seconds. Slick for sure but not particularly impressive imo
