He is obviously a very good player but if they go back up I cant see him playing in the Premiership.

agreed- he's decent enough in the championship but i can only see him getting DESTROYED in the prem!

mcshane looks a bit dodgy in the prem and he's FAR better than harding

i don't remember coppell really rating him when he was here? i'm sure he really CEMENTED his place in the first team under mcghee

Coppell got him booked by shoving him on the pitch once, while he was waiting for the ref to let him on.

Don't know whether that means he rated him though.

He's only on loan 'til the end of the season anyway.

The Royals have swooped to sign Dan Harding on loan from Ipswich Town until the end of the season.

Harding, 25 last month, is a former England under 21 international who can play anywhere on the left hand side.

Royals boss Steve Coppell said, "At a time when the window is coming to a close, Dan will give us that extra element of competition and insurance going into what is a very critical stage of the season. He can do a good job for us anywhere on the left hand side of the pitch, and he is a player that I know well."

The loan move is subject to the completion of final paperwork, but this should be a formality.

Harding, 6'1", began his career at Brighton, and Coppell handed him his full League debut as a 19-year-old in 2003.

International honours soon followed, and he played four games under Peter Taylor for England's under 21s.

After two seasons and more than 60 games in the Seagulls' first team he made the step up to join Leeds United in the Championship, the Whites paying a fee of £850,000 to secure his services.

He made 21 appearances in his season with the Elland Road side, and then moved to Ipswich in a swap deal, Ian Westlake going the other way.

He has played on 76(+3) occasions for Town, and midway through this campaign got a further 20 games under his belt on loan for Southend, playing alongside Royals loanees Adam Federici & Hal Robson-Kanu at Roots Hall.

Director Of Football Nick Hammond hopes Harding can fulfil his potential at Madejski Stadium, saying, "Dan is a talented boy.

"He probably just needs to find the right home and the right environment in which to play.”
