[Albion] Do You Struggle With Morality as a Football Fan?

Sometimes I catch myself complaining about our manager, the performances, the results…

Then I stop and think: “Hang on, look how far we’ve come. A few years ago, we’d have killed for this kind of season.”

It leaves me questioning myself.

Am I being entitled? A bit bratty, even?

Or is it fair to expect more given the players we’ve got and the money we’ve spent?

Where’s the line between high standards and ungratefulness?

Anyone else wrestle with this?

Pretty much what I posted the other day BUT then after yesterday’s game I wanted Pedro shot and thrown in the sea ! It’s a fine line.

Fickle first, backed up by entitlement.

It's the way of many a football fan of many different clubs it seems.

As long as we are outperforming the wage bill I'm entirely content having a bit of a swear up and then being over it.

I find it funny that we expect our fans not to moan and keep calling it entitled for some reason.

All fans moan. A central part of supporting any team is moaning about some aspect of something, even in the good times human nature means we whinge about something.

I think the fact football costs so much these days adds a lot to it tbf, if you are spending a hundred or so quid, then looking like a poor team that’s not been coached all season is very much going to aggravate things.

I do think calling fans entitled is unfair and inaccurate. I don’t think there’s much wrong in being unhappy when performances have been as poor as they have and I don’t see them as expecting anything unreasonable.

Entitled and entitlement are mentioned far too much in this forum with no explanation as to what is meant? Is wanting the team to play as well as we know they can entitlement? Is being disappointed at a poor performance entitlement? When is it just being a fan and when is it entitlement?

Ok, I'll give it a go.

Nothing entitled about wanting our team to play as well as we know they are capable of.

Nothing entitled about being pissed off by poor performances.

Entitlement to think that we should be qualifying for Europe in our first season under a new manager, and a very new squad.

Entitlement to think that just because we've qualified for Europe once that, with the level of investment in the team also, means we should now qualify for Europe every season or else the manager has to go.

Entitled to have a rant at piss poor performances. I did it when we were clutching to keep our league status, I'll be doing it when we're champions of the universe

I’m on the more negative end of the spectrum when it comes to how I’m feeling about the team right now. That said,

What exactly was the reasoning behind clapping the players and manager off the pitch yesterday? It seemed like a pretty even split between those applauding and booing.

After witnessing an abysmal performance, I struggle to understand the purpose of showing appreciation in that moment. Were they clapping the effort? The desire? Because I didn’t see much of either. A handful looked annoyed at the jeers, but I’m genuinely curious, what were the ones applauding actually applauding?

It certainly wasn’t for the quality of the performance.

Never. I hope but I don't ever feel entitled. Remember I live in Indiana.
