It's so f***ing dull. I'm sure fan banter used to be so much better when I was younger. The 'football in a library' song is just about the worst I have ever heard in the history of the game.

Most of the chants in that post have been around since time eternal. Oh for the days when the Goldstone North Stand user to sing original 'bantz' like "Marley, Marley, Marley" at Peter Smith. Thankfully we've at least moved on from that unintentionally racist crap.

Being near the away fans I get to hear all this with tedious regularity. We normally get “football in a library” at around 15 to 20 minutes in.

Brentford at home was the record this season: not until 29 minutes.

We sang it at Vila at 27 minutes, last match.

“is there a fire drill?” can be funny, if we’re winning by three goals. Obviously we’ve not sung it much this season, though it was fun at Sheffield United last year.

Brentford fans singing "Shall we sing a song for you" on about 40 minutes, was quite funny, given it was the first time we'd heard them in the game.

You don't have to go back as far as the Goldstone years for an example of that. Referee Jarnail Singh received a friendly chorus of 'Oh Monty, Monty. Monty, Monty, Monty, Monty Panesar' when he appeared at the Withdean.

Don’t remember Marley being chanted, I do remember him having the nickname Whoopi though.

They've missed out the "[wherever]'s a shithole, I wanna go home".
This one is one I really hate. It just isn’t funny. Fans just sing it out of habit. Not that long ago I was at a non league match at Leamington and the away fans sung it. Granted a bit of the bottom end of town is not great but the idea that Royal Leamington Spa is a shit hole is ridiculous.

Another unfunny one is when oppo fans have a drum. I go to quite a few Brackley matches in non league and you know it is coming. “If you can’t bang a woman bang a drum”

I always find the lyrical and prime example of song writing excellence 'Your support is f***ing shit' chant amusing. Especially when 'sung' to a full away end by a home end from which there is barely a murmur.
