A living museum to the grounds a lot of us used to love visiting in the 70s/80s/90s

Residential area, four corners, crumbling terraces, stands that don’t match, close to the pitch, low rusty roof, piss streaming out from under the bog door, old bill with an attitude problem, I’m sure I even smelt boiled burgers and fried onions last time I was there but probably imagined that.

This isn’t a pop or sarcasm. For a nostalgia buff I love it and when ever I go I’m always promoting it to my teenage son because when it goes (which it will eventually) it’ll be gone forever.

[regarding any replies, I’ve put my tin hat on!]

Never been but obviously seen it on tv and from the vantage point of the train. I even did a google street view tour of the area once just to get my head around it.

Strikes me as the sort of stadium that’s very easy to ridicule when it belongs to our closest rivals, but which we’d probably feel affection towards if it was the home of a faraway championship or lower league club we remember from the past, or visited for the occasional cup tie.

Reminds me of Elm Park. Urinals below and behind the away end terrace, nestled against the supporting wall without even the modesty of a tin/asbestos roof.. From the terrace above you could look down, if so inclined, and see the cocks on parade. Alternatively, just drop three quarter empty cans of Coke or the like into the piss filled trough with the inevitable consequences for those using it.

Is that kebab shop nearby still going? That’s the only reason I’m going. Great place.

I have a big problem with that Arthur Wait stand, how when they have earnt over £1bn since they've been promoted do they still have a stand with hundreds of restricted view seats? It affects their own fans too. Absolute shit hole.
