New variant in the far east or what?

Just saw this on the Johns Hopkins site. With such sudden blooming and relatively 'local' expression, could this be a new variant? If so I am hopeful it is a fast spreading low symptom variant. It's what virus evolution tends to do, fortunately.

They haven't got an omicron surge on those graphs. This could be omicron, perhaps.

I am, I've never felt healthier. Surprised to see my self now labelled as the resident anti vaxer.
