[Misc] Packets of peanuts in pubs, served from a cardboard thing with a picture of a naked woman

When I were a lad, Tennents used to print vaguely glamorous shots of, say, The Lovely Marie Frae Dundee on the side of their lager cans. Presumably to try and distract you as much as possible from the pish contents within

Am I the only one who pictured you like this when typing this reply?

Didn't Linda Lusardi and Carol Smylie start off on their illustrious careers on Tennents Lager cans ?

I was going to say I'd probably left school before Linda appeared on Tennents cans, but just 'googled' her and she was sixty this week!!!!!!!!!!!

...printed on it, such that as the packets were bought, the naked woman would get revealed.

What was all that about?

And does it still exist?

Yeah, still a thing up North. Not seen them down South for a few years.

Smoking areas is a funny one. I worked at Jobcentres in Brighton for a bout 6 months before they combined them all into one. Maybe ten years ago now. They all had smoking rooms. The one on Upper North St. Jesus! Brown is the only word I can describe it as. Whatever time you popped in there there was always two Bernard Manning looking guys with a fag on, playing cards. Unbelievable to think that happened, now.

I know this is mostly Boza's click bait, but for those that are taking this seriously, I would remind people that there probably wouldn't be a site or a Club without this horrendous piece of semi nakedness. :p

I knew a girl who was a fashion model/beauty queen who applied for a PR job at the club when DK was in charge. She turned it down as they made her do a load of risk assessments but when I told her that DK was behind this campaign, I think she regretted it somewhat. Last I heard she was a Red Bull F1 girl so she probably hasn't missed out too much.

The Flake adverts were always pretty raunchy, even going back as far as the sixties.... ooh... I think I've just come..
They seemed very fond of including an ejaculation metaphor in their ads for some reason. More recently Cadbury's banned one of their own Flake ads because even they thought they had gone too far. It was the last one featuring the Devil.

70's were topless when all the nuts had gone. Remember going to my dads club before a home match, waiting while he had a pint or two, listening to a nice selection of racist and sexist humour then going to the Goldstone. Parking about 15mins walk away, looking forward to the game but still thinking of the picture behind the nuts..

That really is shocking.

Can't believe they used to use that font.
