Jeez, I can't remember the last time our form looked so bad in that table. We need something Sunday, just to change the mood a bit. By something I mean really compete and don't get thrashed. The player fouled was nowhere near the ball, you can only give a pen in that situation if the attacker was prevented from scoring or at least having an attempt at goal. He was about 10 yards behind the action

That can’t be right otherwise on a free kick the defenders could grab every attacker to prevent them attacking the ball.

It was a pen but we see that holding at corners happen in most games and it always goes unpunished. There was a good example in a game earlier this season (not a direct comparison but serves the purpose) I think it was Everton actually at home, where Ferguson was being manhandled and was prevented from challenging for the ball in which they scored from, and got injured in the process.

The refs are definitely scared of Dyche.

Thats very silly. If I were to punch someone while in the penalty area while the ball is near the corner flag, is it not a foul? Being near the ball means f*** all and it always has.

I think what swayed it was that it was a case of one player holding another with no other players anywhere near to cloud the issue. If it had been 4 v 4 in a tight area there would’ve been more room for doubt.
Also think the incident was so far from where the ball was dropping that the referee can claim he was watching the ball and missed to offence.
