This evening's pub debate has landed upon the best way of boiling water for a brew

Option A) The Kettle

Option B) Stovetop Kettle

Option C) The Microwave

Apparently one bloke here reckons he can tell how the water has been boiled from how the tea tastes

of course he can tell because if you try to use a microwave it will taste disgusting.

Kettle to heat fresh water if it’s Tea and microwave to warm the milk in my mug before the fresh coffee gets added. The water in the kettle needs to be changed every time it’s boiled, don‘t reheat it.

I finally found out why Americans dont have kettles- its because the voltage is less than half that here (110 V to 240v) and Electric kettles take about twice as long to boil in the US (110v) as in the UK (240v) - if they used a UK Kettle it would take about 4 times as long

I'm guessing you are one of those people who iron their socks and bedsheets, and use a leaf-blower.

I suspect the main reason is cultural. Americans tend not to drink hot tea (or instant coffee) so there is little need for a kettle that will be used multiple times a day, as they are in the UK. When I've gone looking for an electric kettle over here I've had to hunt one down (and there is little choice, typically).

Septics do apparently.

Instant hot water tap was a game changer at work.
This.

I’m a kitchen gadget collector/hoarder/obsessive.

I even use some of them.

The very best thing of all? A Quooker. Normal hot and cold, boiling, chilled & filtered, sparkling chilled and filtered.

Total game changer. Haven’t used a kettle since we did the kitchen up a year ago.
