After the Lewes game Adams said that the players looked "tired and leggy"!

"Tired" I understand.

But "leggy"?

Does he make up words as he goes along?

According to the dictionary it means "having unusually long legs"!!

I take it that's meant in a different way to the slightly antiquated and 1970s description of 'leggy blondes'.

I think it means that players spines shrink after 90 minutes work-out on a hard playing surface: thus making their legs appear longer than they actually are

A plant that has gone leggy is one that has been over shadowed by other plants and rather than putting on strong compact growth it has grown towards the light, thereby becoming tall and weak - or "leggy". This often leads the plants to be unhealthy and not robust.

Seems like a good word to use if that is what he meant.
