That's not a fair comparison. Fergie and Wenger both led dynasties at their clubs and whomever took over would have the uneviable challenge of a complete rebuild and long transition phase whilst also trying to appease a heavily expectant support who'd been used to a diet of success year after year. They were ends of eras, that's not the case at Anfield. It's more comparable to Bob Paisley taking over from Bill Shankley, as in he's got a ready made winning team. If it proves anything, it's that Klopp really should have put more silverware in that cabinet. A case of what might have been
Okay, but Bob Paisley didn't win the league in his first season and Slot's going to.

I knew exactly what you were saying. I just don't agree with you. Klopp was worshipped at Anfield and, whatever the circumstances, he was going to be a very tough act to follow. Slot coming in and winning the league in his first season has been the outstanding managerial feat in the EPL this season and that was the question posed by the OP.

Not that tough as Slot has strolled it, and lets be honest, the other usual pratagonists haven't turned up this season. It helps to have a player like Salah who has been virtually unplayable this season. Amazing to think Klopp couldn't get a tune out of him last season so, for me, Klopp = not quite the mesiah. Just the 1 Title and couldn't make them go again and retain it. That's always harder

Can't say I was ever bothered which one of the money teams wins the league and I didn't pass judgement on Klopp, just said how much their fans loved him.

Was listening to Sean Dyche chatting to Gary Lineker on his podcast. An interesting take on how football management has changed and how the game is suffering due to diving but also the inability to tackle.
He compared the likes of Brian Clough to the manager of today and said there’s no way Brian would stick today’s style of management.

Does he think refs should book players for simulation more often?

He reckons it never existed in his playing career - your own team wouldn’t have let you get away with it, let alone the opposing team, the fans, the manager etc. Whereas it’s so rife now that it’s expected and accepted.
Gary asked how to solve it?

You can't reasonably send players off for simulation, and you wouldn't want to involve VAR further by having it look at potential simulation, so I'm not sure what the solution is either. Based on our experience this season it seems as though the only tangible cost is the reputation one earns as a player among refs for diving

It doesn’t feel like a very new thing though. Has it got worse?

Just far enough away from LDC
Iraola for me. Nuno has been lucky with Wood having a stand-out season, and hardly any injuries -- as well as he's done and how well drilled they are. I think that Iraola is at the vanguard of a new style of football, and will have an amazing career. He's had injuries but plays an absolutely thrilling style of football. On Football Weekly, Jonathan Liew said that our game against Bournemouth was the best of the season and it was like watching football from the future.
At the time I said it was the best game I'd seen since our home draw with man city the year we got Europe. Glad to know it wasn't just blue and white tinted specs

Although he only lost out to Derby County on the last day - and then went on to far surpass Shankley. Six league championships and three European Cups (among many other lesser trophies) in 9 years speaks for itself!

Gods country fortnightly
An FA Cup win and Champions League qualification might result in the helicopter carrying the trophy being redirected at the last minute.
Might have to dusted off the British Caledonian helicopter and bring back Jim Rosentile
