I have a suggestion for a future food and entertainment event.

Spit roast that "Scream if you want to go higher" DJ twat

and PBOBE needs to ask for some customer feedback on the clubs web strategy. The mobile app thing is all fur coat and no knickers. It is the opposite of a single web experience, just look at the confusing way the news part, the ticketing part and the shop part loosely fit together. Kiosk payments that come up as Unknown retailer, Celtic etc demonstrate a collective ineptness even if some of this is down to Sodexo.

I gave up on ordering in the terrace last night, basically because paying twice once for food and once for drinks is a big faff, when you have to provide card details in what looks like a US format. The scan the QR code is not a biggie, but still pretty funny that it asks you to do this and doesn't work. The moron DJ was going to require microphone surgery if I had located him and even though I liked the tracks being played, the music was a throbbing annoyance.

Oh and I didn't enjoy the football that much either, especially the last 30 minutes!

Judging by all the reports of RefreshmentChaos, I'm just going to treat the Palace beamback as a £6 pay-per-view. If The Terrace manages to serve me up the promised FreeDrinkOnArrival, or indeed in any timely manner without a ScrumFromHell, then I'll treat that as a brucie bonus, else I'll just write it off and go thirsty and watch the game

@Stumpy Tim is having a grand old time upstairs with Glen Murray and some other bloke.
I quite enjoyed it last night. Had a beer upstairs near the stage with some friends, and then went downstairs and met some other friends outside. I'm surprised people are complaining about the queues as in comparison to the concourse queues they were a dream. I was impressed with the amount of bars downstairs, primarily for lager drinkers admittedly.

My only complaint, and why it won't be a regular pre-match thing for me, is that it's too loud. I'm too old for over-excited DJs pretending to be happy

Chatting about this place last night it does sound like some of the alternative pre match drinking holes in town and elsewhere are seeing a marked downturn in business since this place opened.

So call it an exciting new fan experience or an obvious attempt to bring even more of the pre match spend in house, personally I’d rather give my money to smaller businesses such as the many nice old pubs close to Brighton station. Plus in those I might even get a seat and be able to chat to friends etc. So for those reasons I’m out.

This!

And much like @CheeseRolls says, if that DJ or band say that they want to 'take us higher' or 'everyone bounce' after we've lost a pivotal game in the season again, I'll lose the plot. Its not fun we've just lost.

Was heaving downstairs so thought would take a look upstairs. Went to staircase showed Amex card to be grumpily told to go to other staircase. Did just that showed card and grumpily told to join queue. Could not find queue so gave up and went on concourse.

Yeah, I think they've got the staircases back to front. Surely it would be better if people went up the staircase closest to the train station and left The Terrace via the staircase closest to the stadium.

Yep! With a queue for those going up towards the fence by the railway line (ie not a queue where everyone is milling around drinking).

Yep.

A one off for me last night, ironically down to the traffic issues. Since Withdean I have had a season ticket next to @Scoffers but he's been getting the ST coach from Burgess Hill for many seasons and meeting us in the seats. Yesterday he decided to take the train, rather than sit in traffic and we met at the Terrace.

We used his Amex card to get upstairs and I'm not sure that was the right decision. It was anything but premium with no seats or tables available (this was at about 5.35) and a food order due at 17.50 finally delivered after quarter past six and complaints to three different staff. Scoffers, who ordered after us got his before and there were loads of people stood around the collection point not getting food while other dishes went cold in front of us as people failed to realise they were ready. Many waiting also didn't have the drinks they ordered.

It was the sort of experience you'd expect at a very badly run airport or gig bar - not one where you have to hand over your financial data before you can experience it.

Bluntly, the pub landlords in town do a far better job with far better staff more cheaply. Time to head back there.

I guess people will want to try it because it’s new. But it won’t be for everyone, and then people to return to what ever they liked doing pre match before.
Whats the capacity like compared to Dicks?
And has there ever been a massive amount of pre match attendance in the pubs before a midweek, especially for a game where the numbers are down?

Possibly because they were "special" but the pubs in town were absolutely heaving before the Thursday games with AEK, Ajax and Marseille.

We'd also sometimes go to The Swan for midweek games at the start and end of season when the weather was dryer and warmer and that was always busy in both the pub and the barn. Still managed to get burgers and chips out to the right people quickly though.

Sounds like a plan to me. Please God there's no beer luzzing!

I guess The Swan is the nearest competitor in terms of distance to The Terrace. But I’m sure those who prefer that kind of experience will be back - they sound very different. In the way that they competed with Dicks and the hospitality lounges before, but had a different clientele possibly.

Brighton factually.....
hmmmm, reading all the negative revues on here makes me wonder if I should bother even going on Saturday...
Surely the things folks are moaning about are just teething problems and can be ironed out, or simply folks find something else to moan about and get used to it. I will reserve judgement until my visit on Saturday, No promises I will still be there on 85 minutes though.....

Not sure if this should be in this thread or beamback... I can remember attending beamback for a couple of Albion games in one of hospitality lounges. Reasonal cost included a pie and a drink. Very succesful, seating for everyone. and good atmosphere. Seemed perfect. How will this compare to what will be available at Terrace for Palace etc
I will wait to hear how Saturday screening goes. When I watched away game in hospitality lounge it was good because everybodys only interest was watching the game and not getting p---d Hope it will be same in Terrace

Much less crowded last night and good to have a few decent loos without having to go through the gates - went in about an hour and a half before KO but got out of there as soon as they started announcing the sides in a PA voice that was more in keeping with the calling out of Bingo numbers at a Butlins holiday camp.

Music much too loud for my liking - but accept that’s probably an age thing!

The Focus Lounge bar was as full as it always was so there’s presumably not much draw to the Terrace by 1901 members.

The multiple large LED screens are the best i've ever seen for watching a football match. Anywhere. Truly impressive. I watched about 5 mins post match of the Liverpool game whilst waiting last night to catch up witih my group and leave for home..

I popped in to the Amex lounge with my son post match last night, had a quick beer watching the remnants of the Liverpool match. Swimming against the tide with this opinion, but I thought it was great! Got served quickly and great seating to watch the match.

What I couldn't work out before the game was why people were queuing downstairs for beer at the bar when there were numerous backpacked booze sellers wandering around... maybe finding something to complain about. If you normally drink Malibu and coke, perhaps you have to adapt your tastes when at a large sporting event!?
