That would be great! For us.
Wouldn't be bad career progression for him either.
Problem is we're going to have a real hard time convincing him to sign a new contract and go on a six month loan to Umpshire Wanderers if Roberto calls and says "hello, come and play first team football for Marseille".
Yes, but I was rather discounting that! If Marseille come calling, doubtless we'd do our best to make the mot of the situation.

IF...............

I'd completely for forgotten about Amario. He's only had 71 minutes across 5 games for Blackburn so far, so not sure how much of a route to the first team he'll get after a) this loan and b) we get back up to full strength on the wings.
I believe injury has played a considerable part in that, but even so that has not been a good start for him at Blackburn. Whether it's worth leaving him there to fight his way into the team in the second half of the season, or should we move him on loan somewhere else? Guess we'll find out in January.
Or maybe we could use him for half a season in PL2, prior to a better loan next year - if the likes of Duffus, Peupion and co. go out on loan our PL2 team could be left a little light.

Joshua Duffus - what exactly is going on?

To give a brief timeline:

December 14th - starts for the U-21s against Tottenham: provides an assist and has two efforts cleared off the line. Subbed off on 72 mins
January 17th - posts on social media "Back soon", suggesting he has been injured
January 21st - comes on as a sub against Wealdstone after an hour

And that is the last we have seen of him in matches. However, for many weeks now he has appeared in the training galleries (and various videos) posted on the club website or social media.

So - is he injured? Surely he can't be if he has been featuring in training for weeks.
Contract dispute? At least one player in recent times has suddenly disappeared from competitive action, only then to move to another club.

The U-21s have certainly missed him this calendar year. Does anybody have any inside info?

My thoughts exactly, it really is puzzling. Scoring for fun before he went AWOL, no one really knows.

If you don't know ...............................!

Transfermarkt (for what it's worth) says he signed a one year extension last summer - so in terms of him deciding to leave the Albion on a free in June, it maybe doesn't look good from our point of view. I think he was an unused sub for the 1st. team a couple of times, maybe earlier this season or the end of last? Normally, getting on to the bench would seem to be a good sign - but with what happened with Peupion, Samuels and McConville recently, maybe benchwarming isn't a good sign of progress!

He made his first team debut as a sub in the away Europa League game in Athens.

There were four Albion players who were shown on the Premier League retained list when it was issued in June 2024 as being (Extended). I believe that means the club took up their option on the player (as opposed to the player/club agreeing a NEW contract). Duffus was one of the four; the other three were Benicio Baker-Boaitey, Imari Samuels and Cam Peupion - all of whom left in the January transfer window, of course.

Looks like Duffus is on his way out, and there won't be a tranfser fee or sell-on clause as he'll be out of contract.

Wouldn't there be compensation due to us for his development?

Perhaps our summer spending spree has put a few noses out of joint in the U21 team. Players trying to earn a place in the first team have had new signings come in and possibly displace them, or push them down the ladder.

Who is the other player who disappeared in recent times, because of contract issues out of interest?

That list reminds me of the time when the Italians had all the best sides and were buying up all the best players. Ultimately they couldn't play them all at once and some started to get a bit miffed. I'm not saying Duffus is sulking, but you have to take your chances when the opportunity comes along
