Jimmy Anderson is calling it a day for international cricket after the first test this summer at Lords against the West Indies.

Going out at the very top and on his own terms, what a career, will be glued to the box for the 5 days to hopefully see Englands greatest ever bowler sign off with a vintage performance.

A great bowler but with exception of people like Botham who raised millions for charity would never give knighthoods to sports people or in fact entertainers

What about Cookie and Strauss ? Boycott ? Hadlee ? Greenwich ? Lloyd ? Richards ? Richardson ? All Knighted for services to cricket.

It seems that Cricket gets many more knighthoods than footy !

No I have just always thought knighthoods and MBE etc should not be given to sports or entertainers . Exceptions for eg Botham who raised millions for charity.
