After @Official Old Man all set out very clearly here - seems a shame for this thread to die a death 😁

“5 UCL places are now guaranteed.
So here's the latest 'can we do it' stats.
Positions 1 to 5 are guaranteed UCL spots, regardless of who wins it etc. So should Arsenal win the UCL it is still only top 5. The winners of the UEL also get to enter the UCL but again, this would not effect the 5 spots, it could mean 6 spots.
Position 6 is UEL. This spot is guaranteed regardless of who wins any domestic or European trophies.
Second UEL spot is for the FA Cup winners. Obviously here we want a top 5 club to win this esteemed trophy so they give up this spot meaning-
Position 7 gets a UEL spot.
Conference League spot is given to the EFL Cup winners (Newcastle). But should they finish in a higher position and enter a better cup then-
Position 8 enters the qualifying stage of the Conference, a two game knockout to enter the league stage.
Last season 61 points would have been 7th. I believe 62 pts is a target this year for UEL spot.”

6th placed teams set for the Conference.
Our best bet for Europe right now is the Conference League which involves one play off match before the full league.
Right now these teams occupy the qualifying positions to enter directly into the Play Off round in their leagues.
Lazio
Real Betis
Frieburg
Stasburg
Joining the above (plus the EPL team) are 26 teams from previous play-offs plus 7 teams elliminated from the Europa League play-offs. These 38 teams play a two leg play-off. This results in 19 teams going into the League.
A further 10 teams who were eliminated from 'Champions' play-offs play a knockout game to leave a further 5 teams.
Yet another 12 arrive from Europa League play-off elimination.
Result, 36 teams in a league and 8 matches each.
Yes, I'm bored again.

6th is Europa. If anyone other than Palace win FA cup, 7th is also Europa. If Newcastle are 7th or higher, conference will be 8th.

If Arsenal were to completely crash the PL season in order to win CL and fall to 7th, would that give them cl as well and push the european spaces down one?

If Arsenal win the ECL but finish outside the top 5 then they still enter the ECL next season as a 6th team. It would indeed move everything down one spot meaning it could go to 9th.
If Man Utd or Spurs win the UEL then they too go into the UCL meaning 7 teams from England. Neither of these teams are going to effect the top 9 :)
If Chelsea win the Conference they enter the UEL as an extra team unless they are top 7 in which case nothing changes.

La Liga secure fifth CL place.

Just to clarify in case anyone is worried - that’s the second fifth CL place of the extra two for next season - we (EPL) of course still have the other.

Unusual for me to be negative but surely today was the final nail in the coffin for Europe this season.

With the injuries we have and maybe Van Hecke now with his second head injury of the season, this season‘s run for Europe probably ends here.

BBC analysis still puts 9-11 places in Europe (9 likely, 11 very unlikely)

“There will be one Conference League place awarded to a Premier League team.
Currently, that will go to Carabao Cup winners Newcastle, but that could change if Eddie Howe's side qualify for the Champions League or the Europa League. As Newcastle currently sit inside the top four that looks likely.

There is realistic scenario where finishing ninth or 10th in the Premier League could earn you a spot in the Conference League.”

And our fixtures are arguably more favourable than those of Fulham and Bournemouth. (Brentford have better fixtures and Palace have worse...).

It is SO weird how unexcited "we" are about this very real prospect of European football for the Albion next season.

West Ham (H) on Saturday - and the 4 games that follow - is/should/could still be among the biggest games in our history so far.

Some saying they don't want conference league

Any of those above teams would be an amazing away day.

I think that’s to do with our recent performances TBF.

Also afaik, we would still have several qualifying rounds before getting into the Conference Groups (@Joey Jo Jo Jr. Shabadoo might clarify that for us?)

… so there is an uphill battle even if we come back from so many injuries and start picking up a decent run of points.

The excitement will come if we actually qualify!
