Thanks for sharing. I'm not trying to claim that either you or @jackalbion are guilty of this, but one thing that has irked me this season is that I think ambition is different to expectation, whereas others treat them as synonyms. Naylor's explanation helpfully distinguishes between the ambition of Europe and the expectation of finishing in eleventh place or above.
I've always been of the view that it has been an Ambition to be fair.

OK. I'm saying that football is unpredictable, and you seem to be saying that the unpredictability is predictable.

Time to leave it there I think.

Have a good day.
No, I'm saying football is predictable (to an extent). Or rather it's not totally unpredictable.

But yes, we're going nowhere here. You have a good day too.

I've always been of the view that it has been an Ambition to be fair.
If Albion had had a season like Spurs (17 losses , currently 9 points behind us, no domestic cup runs) - but no serious risk of relegation. Then that certainly would be below par and Hurzeler potentially would be under pressure. (A season like that under Hughton would have been a triumph) .

A season where we're still likely to be in the top 10, maybe Conference League is probably, then these days is the expectation or minimum from Bloom and Co and he's delivered that . But of course there have been moments - perhaps a few weeks ago, earlier in the season where we were probably hoping for a more than that and i imagine Bloom / Barber definitely think that Hurzeler has been set up with a squad that's capable of Top 6 , winning a cup even with a fair wind - but hey its the premier league, its his first season, injuries , inconsistency, Igor making the wrong decision at Leicester (A) - fill in your own caveat. The PL is not easy.

And agreed with earlier post. Ambition is defintely different to expectation - which explans this entire thread really....

Some good points especially about it being the first season. It takes a while to get to where you want to be, see Arteta.

Also he has shown flexibility in his tactical setup, remember the high line used before the high press was perfected. He appears to have slowed down his path to finalising his preferred tactical style until the squad show they are ready.

Time to give the manager time

As usual a lot of good points. Unfortunately to my mind whilst the squad is top 6 going forward it is not top 6 defensively and a PL quality fit right back and centre back are needed in the summer. Also I don't see our keeper as top 6 standard either. He might though well improve with a better back line in front of him.

In a slide ! There’s ambition (challenge the establishment), expectations (shifting depending on results throughout a season), targets (top 10, cup run, Europe), tactics (literally that in football - high line, press, Baleba v cashin but also squad building, choice of loans), a North Star (sustainable PL club ) and values (see any Albion job ad ) and benchmarks (data data data - how should we be doing/ league table obv)

Sure there’s someone on here with better mgt / consultancy chops mind. !

A Top 6 squad when you have the 14th biggest budget is tricky though.

There’s only one solution which is lifelong fan and genius Bloom OUT despotic Middle Eastern investment fund IN.

Hi mate a great reference to the cure and songs of a lost world on the bbc this week

In fairness to Fab, he has taken setbacks on the chin and I haven‘t heard a single gripe about injuries or lacking players he’d like us to sign. He seems to onboard with what TB sees as his “process”. That is a big plus imo.

I would hate us to bin Fab for McKenna who would be out the door as fast as possible if he had us challenging and a bigger team came in for him, especially if it was United. He is also alleged to be on a salary that is not even close to what TB would pay imo.
Spot on👍

During this season he’s stated Bayern is his dream job. If we happened to be where Forest are like them all Potter included his head would be turning.
