Never really a gamer, despite buying an Atari console in 1981. Sporadic use of arcade games during the o’levels revision weeks and in the uni bar when I thought this was amazing.

All the classic NES/SNES era Mario games

Portal 2 - Incredible puzzle game got me back into gaming after a long absence

Rocket League - might be the closest game to actually feel like football despite it being cars hitting the ball!

Bloodborne/Sekiro/Dark Souls III/Elden Ring - Probably the most satisfying games when you overcome what felt initially impossible.

Disco Elysium - Truly unique RPG with the best writing of any game I've played by far

Happy memories of Frogger when it was new and lots on Spectrum and Amiga, loved Goldeneye on N64 too.

Team deathmatch on Quake filled many hours behaving badly. A mate and I, often after a couple of pints, would camp outside the enemy spawn chucking concussion grenades and flash grenades in a relay. Always seemed to be Americans on when we were and they hated us. Rightly so.

Far too many to list them all, but my username gives away my favourite (and, in my opinion, greatest narrative game of all time). The third and fourth games are bangers too.

Love the Fallout series, Skyrim, Sensible World of Soccer (Amiga not PC), Tetris, Rollercoaster Tycoon, GTA games, Football Manager (started with CM2!), Heroes of Might and Magic III, Age of Empires II.

I LOVE point and click games - the Sam & Max series, the Broken Sword series, Simon the Sorcerer I & 2, the Monkey Island series, Day of the Tentacle, Grim Fandango…

Really enjoying Kingdom Come Deliverance II at the moment - the combat is hugely improved from the first game.

Mario Kart (original)
GTA V
FIFA ‘98 (bring back the indoor 5-a-side game)
The most recent FIFA (now EA Sports FC) has this - (kind of) and it’s really great fun with mates.

Mrs W thought Tetris was fantastic.

I did dabble on my son’s Grand Theft Auto. A childish middle aged bloke vandalising stuff in Los Santos such as vending machines on the pier and crashing into cop cars  .
GTA is great for just switching on, causing havoc for 15-20 minutes to get it out of your system, then getting on with your day

There are people reading this thinking 'WTF is a Spectrum, Amiga or SNES'.
When I last visited the Amberly Museum about 10ish years ago, they were on display. I decided to boycott them as I was so offended. ;)

Ah, a man of taste!

One of the first games I played was Police Quest 2. Loved point and clock after that.

There's a load of good contemporary ones too. Technobabylon is worth a run through and I've been eyeing up The Excavation of Hob's Barrow for a while as well.

Haha, I do this. I start playing with the best of intentions, tick off some side-quest missions etc, but all it takes is someone to say something about my driving or look at me the wrong way and before I know it I'm on 4 stars and hiding in a sewer 😂
