There's no logic to whether bottle tops are allowed. For example, Burnley allow bottle tops, Accrington Stanley don't.
Yep, it's normally fine actually. On Sat the steward said he would have to take my can off me, when I advised him it was a bottle he said it was fine. Maybe it was just a diversionary tactic whilst he nicked a tenner out of my wallet 😄

Second season running I've made a huge fuss about it. Probably get a ban now as a Brighton steward took a photo of my ticket as she wouldn't listen to my complaint. All I wanted her to do was feed back to the club that many fans were complaining of this invasion of privacy. Apparently I was abusive.

But if you believe in a religion

Sikh visitors to the stadium will be permitted access with a Kirpan, provided that the blade length is no more than four inches and it is safely secured in a sheath and concealed beneath clothing. Sikhs wearing a Kirpan are encouraged to declare it and undergo searches as required by stewards.

It is your right to ask that the search of your property is conducted in private. I asked for this and it was refused. I complained to the police but while he agreed with me he said there's nothing he can do.

I also witnessed an elderly man being held by the stewards as he refused to let go of his wallet. I f***ing out of order and once again I'll send a complaint, to which f*** all will happen including from our club.

Incidentally post match we stayed in the area for drink and food. I asked a number of Brentford fans if they have ever had their wallets checked, they hadn't. Furthermore having worked for Asahi I was heavily involved with the bar design etc at the stadium and have on a number of occasions entertained in the exec. box including our first visit to the new stadium. Never check entering the ground.

Similar to you - made a fuss about Wallet Check - reminding stewards they are not legally allowed to do that - but would consent to a police officer (stood behind) to search.

A small world indeed as the same steward who conducted the wallet check saw fit to shoulder charge me on the stairwell post Welbeck Equaliser. A brisk exchange of opinions lead to being frogmarched out, with a BHA steward coming out the stadium to apologise as they had seen what had happened & that Brentford security are well-known for such behaviour.

Have seen a video of two young lads practically carried out down the stairs, not sure what for but an entirely excessive display of force.

This was a first for me.
Steward insisted in checking my wallet on going into the ground on Saturday. On questioning him he said it was club policy and he needed to look for drugs. I asked him how he would do that and will he be taking all my cards out? I reluctantly handed it to him and kind of wished I’d made more of a fuss. My main worry was that he would find my old Blockbuster Video card From 1997.
Anyway- another club to add to my ever increasing list of grounds to dislike.
If they did it in the NS the queue for the toilet cubicles will be non existent

When they checked my brother's wallet there was a sheep skin condom for the American Civil War era.

I was asked if I had a wallet by the steward who searched me. (I didn’t)
Just carry a man-purse.

“Do you have a wallet?”

“No.”

“Enjoy the game.”

A drink had been thrown from the upper staircase level. Two people were carried out but were apparently later let back in after cctv showed they didn't do it. Apparently two stewards were later removed by police

The two steards being removed by police were seen by my son. The two being let back in is based on social media and word of mouth

Surely the bigger question is who carries a wallet these days?

I saw the bloke having a moan to the police about this and just thought what’s the big deal really. Unless you’ve got something to hide.

A lot of the younger fans queue up for the cubicles at away games. Maybe the club have finally decided to do something about it, or a Brentford have a less tolerant attitude towards drugs than Brighton and other clubs do?

That said I agree that the sniffer dog would make more sense than searching wallets.

I just did a simple google re stewards being allowed to search your wallet. I didn't mention Brentford - but one of the top hits was a thread on AFCB forums with exactly the same issue at Brentford in 2023. It makes for some crazy reading including the OP being denied entry.

But post #50 is incredible. How on earth are they allowed to get away with this - which they obviously do as they're basically still at it it seems.

My mate also had his wallet searched and wasn't happy the way the steward slowly took every card out and inspected it. On speaking to a senior steward he was told that if he didn't allow the search they'd deny him entry. He also spoke with police officers after the game - but they basically weren't interested and said there was nothing they could do.

Had my wallet thoroughly searched, luckily my 8-ball was safely lodged in-between my arse cheeks

It was known it was gonna take place, my son mentioned it to me on the bus before we left Peacehaven. I just laughed it off as bizarre quoting Snake from The Simpsons (see earlier post) We entered the ground trouble free at about half two, I never gave the wallet inspection another thought until reading this thread.

Me! Of course I carry a wallet. Cash, coins, cards, ID, stamps, train pass etc - yes I'm a dinosaur and I don't care. And it's completely unacceptable for that to be searched just going to a football match although I didn't make a fuss (which I actually regret).
