If you're referring to the tree on the inner road in that little triangle, that's an Acer griseum, which too has interesting bark. That's probably my favourite tree in Brighton. There is however, a Strawberry tree over the road in Jevs' Rock Garden, if that's the one you mean?I think there's one in Preston Park.
