Right now I have your attention.

Naturally I don't agree with that statement, but I really don't think that it's the greatest drink of all time.

I put on the other beer thread, it might make my top 50, definately top 100, but wouldn't get close to my personal top 10.

So come on people don't be a sheep, join me and shout down these blinkered Harvey's yokels.

The most curious thing..
I wouldn't know about Harvey's. Up here we drink rough tough northern bitter with a head on it - topped off by a flat cap, a whippet, and a pickled egg - ee' by gum!!!!!!

What would be in your top 10 then?

Of course If I was a sheep I'd be drinking Lager and wearing a Man. Utd. shirt, wouldn't I?

I will give it some thought, but it could get silly quite quickly, what with all the choice available.

I guess what I'm trying to say is Harveys is just a nice bitter.

Harveys does indeed smell of sewage, for some reason, but tastes delicious and nothing like any other ale, which is one of the reasons why it's so good.

Only tried Dark Stars Imperial Russian stout. Doesn't even come close to Harveys

if you can get it, try the American Pale ale, or Sunburst or Hophead.. thats the more easily available...... the Saison ( in March) is delightful too

I find hophead and the APA far too sickly... Fine for a pint or two but for a session it can only be Harveys best.

Never tasted 'Wee Wee' so can't draw the comparison.

I think Sunburst is great but only on a Sunday, at 3pm, in the garden, with the temp anywhere above 80 degrees.
So would be great if I happened to find myself in the Outback, but not in Sussex on the other 360 days.

Hophead, though is heading towards my top 10.
Which is just about compiled.

All real ale is piss in my opinion. Give me a nice frosty lager on a hot day anytime compared to a glass of room temperature cloudy sewage with twigs & dandylions.

Oh but of course, you can drink Harveys on the terrace at Lewes you know. :bla:

There's not enough range in Sussex, thats probably why you end liking harveys sewage water. Cos its the best out of a small selection shit brews. Anyways the only good pint from Sussex is hophead.
Not enough range in Sussex???

How about the following Sussex breweries all producing excellent ale:

1648 - East Hoathly
Beachy Head - East Dean
Fallen Angel - Battle
FILO - Hastings
Harveys - Lewes
Kemptown - Brighton
Rectory - Streat
Rother Valley - Northiam
White - Bexhill on Sea
Arundel - Ford
Ballards - Nyewood
Dart Star - Ansty
Gribble - Oving
Hammerpot - Poling
Hepworth - Horsham
King - Horsham
Langham - Lodsworth
Weltons - Horsham

That makes 18 breweries in Sussex, easily enough choice!

Anything by Harveys tastes like puddle water blended with diced badger's ring piece and left to ferment in a damp basement for ten years before being strained through mouldy socks and served on draught.
